this is nothing but a feel good thread. the OP completely forgets the state of his country relations with the US , for the past 6 decades they have been the only allies of the states in south east Asia. they allowed them in and let them selfs be used, they provided bases and attacked they own citizens on the basis of WOT . they still continue to have their sovereignty violated and Lo and behold they call us doormats.

The writer has raised vaild points. The concern too is valid and the good part of it is that it has been voiced.

To begin with US went with Pak ( & Pak with the US) full throttle while India watched with concern and did what it could to safeguard itself and dwelt on its old ' contacts' in Af.

Now that the relationship has gone sour with Pak , US needs a " Firm Base' in the region for more reasons than one. Nothing works better than playing on old animosities & fears countries have of each other.

There is nothing to chuckle with glee on the verbiage, if anything it should serve as a wakeup call to countries in the region who cannot resolve disputes and come together on a common platform with mutual self respect.

This allows a window of opportuinity for outsiders to try & step in.

This has happened for centuries and continues to happen.

This is not an Indian/ Pak / Chinese / BD/ Af problem but a collective issue because as events have shown, we live too close to each other so as not to be affected by the grief of our neighbour.
