India successfully test fires Astra missile third time in a week

. . . .
They have to test astra against faster objects close to Mach 1.5. Lakshya can only attain speed of Mach 0.6-0.7 only.

If you modify the trajectory, a ballistic missile can mimic a high velocity aircraft. While Lakshya can mimic an high subsonic aircraft with high G turns.

Agree with both of you .

But isn't that complicated.A BM mimicing a supersonic aircraft.

Prithvi used must be a modified one with no sophisticated sensors and other equipments missing. The trajectory of missile can always be controlled to make it mimc like a flying object with high speed.

You mean a flattened trajectory like a QBM .

And the interception must be in initial phase ......right.

Why in initial phase? I guess interception should happen at terminal phase to mimic a head on strike just like in real air to air warfare.

Doesn't the velocity reach hypersonic at terminal phase ??
