So you see ISRO IS going for some US designs...wth minimum strap-ons..

I think you are getting confused, the number of strap-ons depends on the mission.
Low payload weight -- no strap-ons.
Originally designed payload wt -- Normal config (4 strap-ons)
Heavier payload wt -- Extra strap-ons + possibly higher performance fuels.

There is nothing Russian influenced or American influenced, strap-ons or no strap-ons depends on the mission profile.

I do not think so. RISAT-2 is a very high resolution radar satellite. Only US and Israel has sub meter resolution radar satellites.

Resourcesat-2 images presented to Manmohan

High quality images of the Indian landmass and other countries beamed by India’s remote-sensing satellite, Resourcesat-2, were presented to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Monday, by the top-brass of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

The images covered New Delhi, Surat, Bareilly and Dubai. The three cameras aboard Resourcesat-2 were being operated from April 28 and several hundreds of images covering India and many parts of the globe have been acquired from the satellite.

The ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV- C16), which lifted off from the launch pad at Sriharikota on April 20, put three satellites in orbit. They were India’s Resourcesat-2, a joint Indo-Russian satellite called Youthsat and another satellite named X-Sat from the Nangyang Technological University of Singalore.

An ISRO press release said the Prime Minister appreciated the success of the PSLV-C16 which precisely put these three satellites into their orbits. The ISRO delegation which met him included Chairman K. Radhakrishnan, Associate Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, John Zachariah and Associate Director of Liquid Propulsion System Center, V. Ganesan.
