Funny enough,

Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, nobody wants to take maldivians as a part of their culture.

So being big brother, India should be open minded and welcome them with full autonomy. (just one rule from indian side dont offer military base to china and every rule accepted from maldive side)

Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, Admiral Nirmal Verma has paid a courtesy call on the President. The call was held this morning at the President’s Office.
The admiral and the President discussed the historic close friendly relations existing between the Maldives and India, and ways to enhance these relations by strengthening shared national concerns in the areas of maritime security and coordinating surveillance efforts in this area.

The admiral said that it was a great pleasure to have had the opportunity to meet with the President and congratulated him for his efforts in consolidating democracy.

At the meeting the President noted the importance of security for the development of the Maldives and stressed that the assistance of the Indian Navy in this regard was much appreciated. The admiral assured the Indian Navy would continue to work together to ensure enhanced maritime safety and security in the region

Its kinda eventual though, they had plans to buy land in Australia , but greater choice was India because of cultural similarities.

Besides, something thing to note , we have dispute with Maldives regarding an island, India hasn't budged because natives of the island call themselves Indian

Maldives gona submerge underwater- lets say in few decades- The maldives people gona move to india- dont know whether they gona buy land there or become refugees-

Well ,off course The Maldive People would have to move to India , whether they do it now or in 2050 or 2090
Their only other option is Diego Gracia under US control or Sri Lanka
US wont allow them to move there , while Sri Lanka is not really hospitable to Migrants across the sea

As far as Maldives are concerned , well we have good relationship with them and Indian Navy also deploy our ships and aircraft in Maldives
Also as per the Friendship Treaty signed under Indira Gandhi We have already given part statehood to Maldives and Maldive citizens enjoy the same rights in India as Indians , while Indian government exercises certain degree of control over there foreign policy , and there currency is pegged to the Indian Rupee
We have a similar agreement with Bhutan
Though the one with Nepal was scraped after the massacre of Nepali Royal Family and Gyanendra Becoming King

We have cultural similarities with lots of people around.

Im sorry if anything such as refugees is coming .. it is indeed into kerala .. I live in a city where most of them come.. The issues with them are plenty..

They can buy land in less populated areas like australia, canada or antartica...
