India should not copy China's model

I have many many in real life. 50% of my engineering class is Chinese. They are good people. Most of them don't care about poverty, df-41 and Indian white colour obsession etc etc. Forums don't represent reality. ;)
:D

Well I had opportunity to work with few researchers and they are easy to work with than most of the Indians. You are spot on about reality.

The only problem I have with some of them that I have to bend down and talk in very slow English. No offence to any chinese.

That is one thing I love about them. There love for their culture.

OTOH it also indicate their slow adaptation and makes them difficult to communicate with. It is a wonderful thing when you are in your own country, but troublesome when you are in a foreign one.

Their brain power and knowledge compensates for their slow english. So I have no problem in taking this effort.

I just feel jealous, how much affinity they have for their own culture. But I think it is true for developed countries too. No developed country emphasize on other language than their own. Be it French, German, Japan...
May be it is cause people don't need to learn other language.

We have same affinity for our culture too. We speak our native language at home, marry following rituals and culture. I don't think there is much of difference btw Indians and Chinese in the way we respect our cultures.

I hate it when we emphasis on English so much. Though I understand that it is the only common language acceptable throughout India.

As long as you know Hindi, you dont need to worry man. Knowing more languages than your native language is an asset.

Being in Montreal, even knowing English is not enough. Than again, seeing how these people are keeping there culture and language intact against English, is good to see.

Depends on your medium. For schooling, you have option of choosing English or language of your state. Up to graduation, this option is there. But PG is probably in English for Engineering and Science.

Depends on university and the medium of the student which he/she studied. If you had your education in Hindi then it may become problematic in future so most of the higher education is done in English.

I had English medium while few friends of mine who had studied in Hindi medium pre-graduate level has some difficulty at first. But its not that difficult to overcome this problem, at least from what I saw.
