the diff between max weight it can carry

28000kg vs 12000kg

Mi 25 could land only on pre-prepared airfields.

You should compare it with Aircrafts. If Army needs to prepare an Airfield for landing an Mi-25, it is better to prepare it for landing Transporter planes.

thats a valid point but nevertheless a mixture of both was req.................as mi-26 carries two and half times the chinook load

C-17 carry 260,000 Kgs.

What is the point. Mi-25 could not land in Areas which need to be supplied by Air.

It is like having a 9 inch dick while suffering from premature ejaculation.

are u trying to be a smartass when comparing a helicopter and a cargo plane??

What is the use of the load, if it cant deliver it at the desired location?

which location??pls specify

we have got helipads at all our imp bases,,,its only in unprepared places where mi-26 lags behind

thats why i said we need a mix of the two as frontline operations of chinook will probably never be tested but daily routine heavylift is req almost every other day

The best idea would be if somebody develope a helicopter in the size range of mi-26 and with tandem rotors like chinook ..... :azn:

That will provide the advantages of both of them .

No i am comparing two flying object which could land only on proper airfields.

Forward posts which could not be supplied by Mi-25 are in most dire need for supply by air.

Chinook has much much more flexibility than Mi-25 and most of the place which are supplied by 25 could be supplied by Fixed wing planes also.

Indo-China border for example. There aren't many helipads in the forward zone. What if we need to move soldiers urgently in times of crisis?

Or what if we need to evacuate peoples in the moment of natural disaster, or should we wait for them to find their way to the nearest helipad?

Or what about evacuation of injured soldier from a conflict zone, or should they crawl their way to the nearest helipad to be rescued?
