Credit to goes to Pakistani reddit user.
So after the EU Disinfo Labs uncovered their massive ecosystem of fake news websites that all link to each other aiming to malign Pakistan, they probably felt super exposed and embarrassed. So here they are trying to create a similar accusation against Pakistan by inventing a think tank conveniently having the same name as the official EU Disinfo Lab.
So-called "Greek City Times" (probably not even based in Greece) recently published this article titled "Disinfo Lab Report Reveals How Pakistan and Turkey use the U.S. for Information War against India". Now to someone who just reads headlines, this might sounds like the EU Disinfo Labs have uncovered something massive against Pakistan and Turkey wow.
But on closer inspection, you click the link to the report they mention, and it is a completely different Disinfo Lab. The official European Union Disinformation Lab website is as follows:
https://www.disinfo.eu/
The website they link to is an obvious front titled https://thedisinfolab[.]org/
Check the other articles they post, its all Indian propaganda about farmers protest and Khalistan and Pakistan. Their About section is like one paragraph. Any idiot with even minor internet experience can figure out this is a fake news website.
Now Indian news sites like ANI (which the actual EU Disinfo Labs named in their report) then take this and run with it, citing "Greek City Times" to make their claim sound more legitimate.
https://www.aninews.in/news/world/e...ation-war-against-india-report20210219130005/ which then other Indian sites publish as well such as BusinessWorld.
This might sound like nothing, but these websites and articles show up on Google News when you type in "Pakistan". Which brings me to another point, anytime you type in Pakistan into Google News more than half the articles are just Indian media sites that are peddling obviously fake or slanted news. This includes both obvious fake sites like ANI as well as actual media houses like ThePrint, Hindustan Times etc. Google is used by pretty much the entire world and if this is the impression someone gets when they search for Pakistan then it is obvious why our image is such a problem.
