India set to loose 90,000sq meters to China, Asian water security threatened

I think this defines the entire story. The thing is India and China don't have any sort of agreement about sharing of water. while on the other hand, Pakistan and India has an agreement. at which indian govt. agreed and signed. But its too coward to step back from the agreements you did in past. All your dams which you are building at Pakistani Rivers are clear violations of these agreements, and besides all your trolls and arrogant posts and all the stupid backdoor politics of your govt. you guyz cannot hide it from entire world.. Perhaps world isn't blind.

If you don't have any agreement over water sharing with china, then china is free to do whatever she wants in her territory. But Indo-Pak situation is simply different. We have agreements at which your past govt's agreed and now you are simply violating these past agreements..

:agree:

any proof... plz dont write such long post which no one will beleive...
coz everyone knows India not stealing water..
the isue is not dams...the issue is water SUPPLY...and there is no stealing...
that shows ur double standards:
India not stealing water u still have problems..
Chinese saying it is justified to steal water u stay mum....:agree:

if there is no agreement do u thing China can steal the water...?? NO

why don't you go to google.com and type "Indus Waters Treaty" and read it out.. i think it will help you open ur eyes a bit, though its too hard..

.
for your further information, not only Pakistan and india are members of this Treaty, but World Bank is also a member of this treaty. you can easily find the entire Indus Waters Treaty between India and Pakistan at world bank's official site..

Just google a little and you'll find plenty about it..

Yup and nobody denied there is no Indus valley treaty .

It has been debated a number of times , with quotes by your foreign minister and all..

U said in ur previous post that there was NO agreement b/n India nd China and so Chinese were justified in their actions.
but once u were refuted U went to the typical deflecting technique of Bringing in the IWT...
Please answer to the point

.
to counter one must have a valid logical reason....

so mate stop asking question about something that cannot be answered...
Duplicity at its best

Indus water treaty = India Stealing water ... (shame on India)
Brahmaputra water treaty = Its China's water they need it so they can do whatever they want and its right.

you know how things work why bother ..brother

well what do you think that agreements and treaties between countries are for..?? A man himself came to an agreement but later he just refuse it or violate his own agreement and steps back from his own words, is pity shameful.

Pakistan : It is not India, but Pakistan which is to be blamed for water woes

Pakistan, which has often accused India of stealing its share of Indus waters, has said the authorities within this country have a tendency to "pass the buck" and exaggerate differences with New Delhi on the issue.

The mismanagement in Pakistan is resulting in the loss of 34 million acre feet of water, foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said.

Qureshi made the remarks yesterday when he was asked at a news conference whether Pakistan had taken up the issue of India trying to block the flow of rivers by building dams during a meeting in Bhutan between prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh.

Pakistan had taken up the issue during the meeting on the sidelines of a SAARC summit in Bhutan but Pakistani authorities have a "tendency to exaggerate" and "pass the buck" in this regard, Qureshi said.

The average supply of water that reaches Pakistan is 104 million acre feet while the water that is consumed is 70 million acre feet, he pointed out.

"Where is the 34 million acre feet of water going? Is India stealing that water from you? No, it is not. Please do not fool yourselves and do not misguide the nation. We are mismanaging that water," the foreign minister said.

Pakistani politicians have accused India of trying to turn the country into a desert by building a large number of dams and power projects on rivers in Jammu and Kashmir.

Differences over the sharing of river waters have emerged as a major irritant in bilateral ties in recent years.

India has denied the charges and said the flow in the rivers has been affected by climate change and low rainfall.

Pakistan "must understand" actions made by India, including the construction of dams and water projects, if they comply with the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, Qureshi said.

Pakistan has to see if new structures being built in the Indian side of Kashmir are "in accordance with the Indus Waters Treaty or in violation of it", he added.

"We should examine the Indus Waters Treaty and its annexures which are binding. If there are any violations, we must take them up and will do it without any compromise as water is a matter of life and death for us.

"Pakistan's progress and economy (is) dependent on water and there will be no compromise on it," he said.

Qureshi also hinted that the foreign office had not received any information from the concerned ministry about violations of the treaty by India for almost 20 years but did not give details.

I will provide the email id of Mehmood Qureshi , if you need further clarifications.

India, China renew Brahmaputra pact
=============================

India and China have signed an agreement for sharing flood-related hydrological data for Brahmaputra during the monsoon season. The agreement follows the renewal of an MoU between the two countries during the visit of the then External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee to Beijing in 2008.

“India and China have signed the implementation agreement for operationalising the MoU on sharing flood-related hydrological data for Brahmaputra which was renewed during Pranab Mukherjee’s, the then External Affairs Minister, visit to China,” Water Resources Secretary Umesh N Panjiar said on Wednesday.

Under the agreement, China will continue providing flood-related data of its side of Brahmaputra during June 1-October 15 period each year till 2012. After 2012, both countries will have to renew their MoU and finalise a fresh implementation agreement. During this time window every year, the Chinese side will provide these hydrological data from three identified hydrological stations twice a day to India to help better manage floods.
