What's new

India serves 90 day notice to Pakistan on Indus Water Treaty!

What is there to talk about? Pakistan will simply say no.

Who will say no Nawaz Sharif or Zardari?

Even Palestenians resist when zionists attack Alaqsa, their homes, and Olives.
A nuclear country has become most weakest of the people who entirely live in a vast prison with daily bombartments.
That is because the generals and core commanders care more about their wealth and property than protecting the sanctity of the nation.

Who will say no Nawaz Sharif or Zardari?
The army won't risk Zardari coming to power, not after what happened last time. Nawaz will be a puppet if he comes to power, but I think his time is done.

Regardless of who comes to power, I think the army will have more say in this, and they'll say no.

I would agree, brother, if for nothing else than the nightmare that will be climate change the world would have to enter a new manner of existence for we are going to face an existential threat within our lifetimes. The last time this happened there was a world wide civilisational collapse of an entire age: the bronze age collapse of 1187 BCE

It's easy being pessimistic, sir, granted sometimes stupid being optimistic as well but I think sticking to reality and doing your best is the only option that remains

I'd say the aresenal is a part of that equation as well, brother. The integrated economics is most vulnerable to disruption and subjugation would be the best bet to ensure nothing too adventurous happens.
If Pakistan falls than it will surely be because of the Pakistan Military Establishment and anyone who continues to support such an institution even to this day.

This thread is quite entertaining and nauseating at the same time.

Apart from the sheer drivel written till now about everything from water wars to turning Pakistan into a desert. the scope of the Notice is as follows.

India’s Indus Commissioner issued a notice to Pakistani counterpart to notify a date for the commencement of interstate bilateral negotiations to rectify an ongoing material breach of the Indus Water treaty,

What:
Notice issued to notify a date for the commencement of interstate bilateral negotiations

Why:
To rectify an ongoing material breach of the Indus Water treaty by Pakistan.
In 2015, Pakistan requested the appointment of a Neutral Expert to examine its technical objections to India’s Kishenganga and Ratle Hydro Electric Projects (HEPs). In 2016, Pakistan unilaterally retracted this request and proposed that a Court of Arbitration adjudicate its objections.

How:
Pakistan, despite repeated efforts by India to find a mutually agreeable way forward, has refused to discuss the issue during the five meetings of the Permanent Indus Commission from 2017 to 2022.

The World Bank at Pakistan’s continued insistence initiated actions on both the Neutral Expert and Court of Arbitration processes. Such parallel consideration of the same issues is not covered under any provision of IWT.

@SQ8 @VCheng @jaibi
There are two mechanisms offered Nuetral expert or Court of arbitration. You cannot have both running at the same time. India's notice is to fix the violations of IWT by Pakistan.

Lets come to what it is not:

NOT
It is opportunate time for India to dictate its terms on Indus Water, Kashmir, Jammu, Laddakh, Siachen Glacier, and Trade.

NOT
Pakistan will be both starved and parched to death from both the changing environment with global warming and by India.

Not
On the contrary, a real or perceived deprivation of water to 220+ million people would be the war-cry to galvanize and unite Pakistanis!!

Nope
Most likely what India is looking for is for Pakistan to accept Indian occupied Kashmir as an internal part of India and in return they will respect the original water division as per the treaty.
If you look up the Indus water treaty it predicates Kashmir being a disputed territory legally and that premise builds up towards the terms of the treaty.
Nope
Now India is looking to revoke that term.

And straight up not any of the below, Notice is exactly as stated above.
If you look at the original dispute then Indian government outplayed Pakistan back then too, the same dynamics that happened in Kashmir happened in Hyderabad as well and we gave up on that claim focusing on Kashmir. India, like China, has an economy that looks for long term moves.
Why is India doing this? I think contrary to popular opinion India desires much more independence in the upcoming century, it does not want to be heavily reliant on the US as opposition to China, if you read the Ukraine-Russian conflict from their think tanks they're quite critical of the US and NATO strategy to support Ukraine (basically debt for defence). Doing this would ensure that they can negotiate with China and keep a tap on how much does the rest of the world i.e. west gets to play into the point of conflict.
Most likely this agreement will be kept under the wraps as this clause will be agreed to, if it happens, for, like I said, India can afford to play in the long run.
As far as the situation for us is concerned then we've actually run of out of time and moves. Our economy is in shambles.
This move helps all major parties, as long as China's investment is secure in Pakistan it would not come in conflict with India. That they can give as long as their interests are catered for. India is building a case to spring board for the tech incorporated world as an investment haven and the only thing that stops them is the danger of being involved in a military conflict with Pakistan or China. Getting the legal requirement from Pakistan allows India to put the legality for any action into Kashmir solely on Pakistan or China thus negating any international legal reprecussion such as sanctions. (This is a much more complicated point but I think the post is already quite long)

Now if there are any takers to discuss the subject on merit, that would be interesting,
If not let's enjoy all of the fictional dramatizations of a very mundane bureaucratic issue.

It is issue at the hand
Issues in the past
Issues in the future.

India has built some 30 dams on Pakistani rivers by 2012.
Many are in the pipeline.
Anyone trusting India that these will be run of river hydropower dams lives in fools paradise.
Anything is expected of India, and in a new world of might and money is right, Pakistan has no chance with military Inc ruling to serve its political and commercial interests and towing line of US to keep them relevant for the new Lord Clive.

Even Arab brothers have ditched Pakistan and will do every time in case of a conflict with India.

We Pakistanis are good sleeping under the influence of bhang, nothing matters to us even after flood takes away cities.
یہاں سب چلتا ہے۔
اور کچھ نہیں ہوگا
That's deep ingrained mindset, DNA, slave habits.

Pakistan is weakest in history, it is same like 1971.
Still State/Military Estate will deal with it by not going to India's Authoritarian command to come, kneel, and talk to accept modi diktat.

Don't you tire out from the constant regurgitation? Water is lifeline be it to some alleged Mafia to some alleged Warrior race chieftain hiding behind a sea of destitute people

Physics fail..... but that is expected...

Flow rate of a river vs carrying capacity of dams? Look it up...

Just flow rate of Indus river:
195400 cu ft/ s

Kishenganga capacity: 648000000 cu ft.

So one Kishenganga holds water worth 55.27 min of water of Indus. 30 dams will hold water worth 30× 55mins ~ roughly 30 hours of average flow.

For India to accumulate even 1% of Indus rivers avg discharge, India will need to build 95 such dams....
( @SQ8 @VCheng feel free to correct the numbers if i have fat fingered any of them. )

And thus the nauseating amusement of horrid logic... poor reading and lack of basic comprehension.
