Perhaps some of you don't know but legally host country has no legal or territorial jurisdiction over an embassy. Only the country whose embassy that is has legal rights over it. Technically what it means is when you are in Indian embassy you are in India.

The same applies to all embassies.

So if India sends some of their troops/commandoos to their embassy in Islamabad they are technically in India, provided they don't leave the embassy.

Offcourse they still need clearance form GOP.

For security review, NSG joins team to visit missions in Kabul, Dhaka, Colombo

As trouble brews all over its neighbourhood, India is set to send a high-level delegation of senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Intelligence Bureau, Central Paramilitary Forces and the National Security Guard (NSG) to conduct an overall security review of its missions starting with Afghanistan.

It’s learnt that the delegation, led by a senior IB officer will shortly leave for Kabul for a security review at the Indian Embassy which was the target of a suicide car bombing on July 7, 2008. Security reviews in Dhaka and Colombo are next on the agenda, said sources.

Despite beefing up security at the Kabul mission and the four consulates located in Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar, the threat perception to Indian missions in Afghanistan has been a source of constant worry to New Delhi.

What makes this delegation unique is the presence of the NSG, perhaps the first time that the elite commando force has been engaged in such an exercise. Officials of ITBP, which currently guards the Indian Embassy in Kabul, and the CISF , which has been given the go-ahead to raise a special force to guard vulnerable missions, will also join the delegation.
Between January 14 and 28, the Indian Embassy in Kabul issued four security advisories on possible threats to Indian nationals. On January 27, it indicated threat of a possible suicide attack and abduction against Indians in Kabul.

Govt to assess security of embassy in India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is considering the deployment of its elite forces in India for the protection of its high commission and staff there.

The move came after India announced deployment of 16 member specialized security unit including commandos in Islamabad for the protection of the Indian high commission and diplomats posted here.

‘A three member team of Pakistani security experts is proceeding to India next week for security assessment of our mission there,’ a source disclosed.

The source said the exact requirement of the personnel there would be determined on the basis of assessment.

The deployment of elite forces, a manifestation of the widening trust deficit between the two countries, is expected to be on reciprocal basis.

The security of high commissions of both the countries was previously the responsibility of the host country. The Indians had started thinking of having their own security arrangement in Islamabad after the last July attack on Indian embassy in Kabul. The security fears were further exacerbated after the Marriott bombing.

The 16 member security team being deployed by the Indian government in Islamabad has been taken from India’s elite Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is tasked with providing security for 269 industrial locations including power plants, defense production facilities, airports and oil refineries in India.

The security team besides the commandos includes support staff and drivers specially trained for VIP movements.

The Indian High Commission had sought deployment of the unit some three months back and was one of the first overseas Indian missions to have asked for the CISF cover after New Delhi promulgated an ordinance to amend the CISF Act, enabling its personnel to be deployed abroad at Indian missions. The ordinance was promulgated in January after the Bill in this regard had failed to make through the parliament.

Previously there was only one instance of overseas deployment of CISF abroad -- at the Indian embassy in Kathmandu. The deployment was done almost five years back.
The Indian mission in Kabul is guarded by another Indian force Indo-Tibetan Border Force.

In a related development India has placed a fairly large order for bullet proof vehicles for the senior staff posted at the Islamabad mission. The special vehicle for the high commissioner has already reached here.

Its not the first time. Remember how they responded when India pulled out off the cricket tour after Mumbai by cancelling the hockey tournament in India?

Well frankly, the way your elite commandos showed their ''professional prowess'' in Mumbai Mow Down, I think that your embassy in Islamabad is better off & much safer with the hired local security guards which they are already using!

Same reasoning goes for the likely deployment of our security detail at our High Commission in in Delhi!

.
For what are they thinking of deploying of their so called "elite forces".Better use them in pak where a civil war is looking imminent. And besides didn't gordon brown said 90% of terror attacks emnate from Pak.So now Pak is afraid of it's own terrorists. And they think GOI will allow that ???? GOI will better tell them to take their high commisioner to Pak where he will need Commandoes to survive in the kind of situation developing. He is atleast 1000 times safe in India than in Pak.After providing their utmost security to Lankans they have not been able to Kill a single terrorist and had the terrorists not been directed not to kill any Lankans Pak would have been felling Shame instead of deploying their so called "Elite forces" in India.

P.S - India a 'safe' place.........now that's vivid imagination typically from a self-delusional Indian!

Incase you did not see the news reports five of the policeman died protecting the visitors and none of the visitors died.

Well in Mumbai it took more than 200 elite commandoos 60 hours to kill the attackers and in the process killed more hostages than attackers. I hope you remember Israel blamed commandoos for killing jews and not the attackers.

Grow up kid.

Uncle,

Israel said no such thing, some private citizen of israel said so, we know what the SL and other visitors who did not die (as that did not seem to be the intention, do or die like in mumbai, u see none of the attackers died too) had to say abt the police who ran away.

abt growing up, u and ur friends can check the snide remarks abt mumbai attacks here, so i don't have to keep replying.

Now since both the countries are sending the troops to their embassy. I see no harm there, India pakistan are already standing on a thin wire.
Although i think a few half commando wont make much of diffrence. but What ever makes them feel good.
