India seeks new naval fighter to replace rejected Tejas LCA

Haha. Pakistan will have far superior technology within 10 yrs. You can't match them. You lick russian pussies. They are getting fucked in Syria. So the aftershock will be very lethal for india. My money is on Pakistan.
Doesn't Pakistan has the strongest airforce in the entire world as they have DSI technology already? why dose it need to wait 10yrs? Plus isn't 1 PAF plane = 10 Kafir plane?

India seeks new naval fighter to replace rejected Tejas LCA
Gareth Jennings, London - IHS Jane's Navy International
26 January 2017

The Indian Navy (IN) has issued a request for information (RFI) for a new carrier-based multirole combat aircraft after the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) was rejected as being unsuitable for service.

The Rafale is one of a number of options being presented to the Indian Navy as it looks to replace the rejected Tejas LCA as a carrier-borne combat aircraft. The air force has already selected the French aircraft, but in a country where interoperability does not count for much, there is no indication that the navy will necessarily do the same. (French Navy)

The RFI, issued on 17 January but disclosed publically on 26 January, covers the procurement of 57 Multi-Role Carrier Borne Fighters (MRCBFs) aircraft for the IN's Vikramaditya and Vikrant aircraft carriers to fill the gap that has been left by the cancellation in December 2016 of the naval variant of the Tejas LCA for 'not meeting the operational capability' required by the service.

As noted in the solicitation, the selected aircraft should be capable of operations during day and night, and in all weather conditions; and be suitable for shipborne air defence, air-to-surface, 'buddy-buddy' aerial refuelling, reconnaissance, electronic warfare, and other unspecified roles. Deliveries would be expected to commence within three years of a contract signature, and be completed within a further three years.

Specific mission and performance parameters listed include an Operational Clean Configuration (OCC) that comprises a gun, four beyond visual-range air-to-air missiles (BVRAAMs) and two all-aspect air-to-air missiles (AAMs). Information on possible anti-shipping, land-attack, and anti-radiation missiles, as well as precision-guided and 'dumb' munitions is sought also.

Information requested includes whether the aircraft is single- or twin-seat (or available as both), and if it has one or two engines; whether it can perform Short Take-off But Arrested Recovery (STOBAR) or Catapult Take-off But Arrested Recovery (CATOBAR) operations (or both); whether the aircraft is already in operational use or not; whether helmet-mounted displays and large-area displays are integrated and fitted; is auto-landing an option; and whether or not an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar is fitted.

In line with the government's wider 'Make in India' programme, the RFI asks if vendors would be willing to set up in-country production centres for the new aircraft, which will complement the MiG-29K/KUB 'Fulcrum' in IN service.

Only an idiot would spin this as a replacement for the LCA, the N-LCA was NEVER going to be a frontline carrier fighter for the Navy.

Unless someone actually thinks the single engined LCA is as capable as a twin engined Rafale...

I would personally like to see Tejas running the show in IAF and IN.
Of course you would but instead you'll have to have your inferior jets go up against 300+ MKIs and 200+ Rafales.

When war breaks out the rafale will have poor serviceability just like the Sukhoi's :omghaha:
Think again pal, Dassualt are in a legally binding contract with India to deliver 75% availability for the Rafale during peacetime and >90% during emergencies.

Seems you operate on Philips brain.....simply ahead of it's time.
BTW, our inferior jets with superior pilots have always smoked your superior jets with inferior pilots.

Oh yes, I must have overlooked all of those military victories of Pakistan's......

There is 1947....oh wait, but then there is 1965.....oh again another war Pakistan started and failed to acheive its objectives....wait what about 1971......yeah let's not talk about that one......then there is 1999........where were these superior pilots of the PAF then whilst their brothers in arms were being obliterated......

The problem with you guys is that you actually believe your own propoganda.

.
So after IAF reluctantly accepting the Tejas and the navy having it declined, what's the future for the LCA.
Considering the IAF is also shopping for a single engine fighter elsewhere.

Well Windjammer considering that you are highly knowledgeable in matters of planes. Tejas falls in to light category where as the aircraft that are being purchased are a different category.

Rafael-M will be chosen

There you go again, confusing him with facts. Some people never learn.

You see all you Indians have the same psyche, to escape the original argument you would drag in any nonsense. Before you run to Longewala and Drones, the subject here is your 30 year old Tejas.
However for your satisfaction,One could simply ask , while Pakistani soldiers intruded into Kargil and systematically were slaughtering Indian soldiers, what stopped the IAF from attacking Pakistani side of positions, the fact is there's no flame in the Agni Pankh, it can only send Indians into mischief with a simple vertical Charlie....

. . . .
the subject here is your 30 year old Tejas.
And what about it?

I have already entirely debunked the premise of this nonsense article- the IN NEVER wanted the N-LCA as a frontline carrier fighter, they are supporting it (and will induct >40) for training, OCU and validation purposes. The technologies and capabilities devloped for the N-LCA will be applied on the N-AMCA which will be in the same class as the Rafale. Or does the IN adhere to a different set of rules to all other navies? They should be operating lightweight single engined fighters just to suit petty pride? They have a manadate to secure the nation's interests and thus are opting for a medium class twin engined MMRCA which the last time I checked the N-LCA was not.

So, what is the point in discussing this any further other than to satisfy your fragile ego? You are just looking for ammunition to use against the LCA and are clutching at straws, it was understandable a few years ago when there were legitimate issues with the project but now it is in service, production is being ramped up and a more advanced variant is soon to enter testing. It is beyond pathetic what you are now doing.

If you really want to go there, tell me why your superior JF-17 is yet to have a twin seat variant? An intergrated HMSD with off-boresight cueing? A naval version?

103 LCAs are on order for the IAF, is that not enough for you to get off your soap box? Maybe the IN should have ordered 1000 then you guys might shut up.

However for your satisfaction,One could simply ask , while Pakistani soldiers intruded into Kargil and systematically were slaughtering Indian soldiers, what stopped the IAF from attacking Pakistani side of positions
The PM of India implicitly instructed the military not to cross the LoC so as to not risk esclation but then you already knew that.

LCA has a future in the parades, such as the Republic day a few days ago.

I know,but personally I like IN didn't induct LCA.

Indian naval fighters would agree with you

.
I dont understand the point of criticism. Building a Naval Jet is no joke. We built Marut, want good we again Tried with LCA .
We didnt get good results with LCA Naval version, but its a WORKING , I reapeat Fully Functional Naval Jet.

Once must consider that though they never got operational but Mig 1.44 , F/A 23 , Lavi all served a Purpose.
