Your government has zero options, this is because it faces a vastly superior opponent. A full blown war would mean the map of India changing forever (against it), and a limited war would mean heavy losses and defeat, even though the Chinese will also take losses.
Regarding the "false equivalence" being drawn, no actually correct parallels are being drawn i.e. the way your government deals with two hostile states.
Pakistan's government will probably wait and see who holds the reigns of power in New Dehli before more steps are taken. You're right regarding the BJP and Congress, although the BJP did go much further with article 370. If there isn't a change then that's fine as well, relations with India will be wreaked forever.
