Ok theoretically it is not a white wash , the first match was a draw , if you remember

I hate to say it , but it is true...Australia is a more formidable opposition , but even they are scratchy at best in the subcontinent conditions ...

Thing is India weren't on the back foot. England thought 450ish scores were massive...but, as India showed with scores of 600 and 700 - they weren't. England quite simply didn't score enough in either of those 1st innings.

they were on backfoot because 400+ scores are very good scores that you would want to put in the first innings after winning the toss...from there on if you ball well 9/10 times you will win...just check how many times has this happened in history where team batting first and scoring 400+ end up on loosing side and that too by innings defeat...

Test matches are won by winning sessions...England surely won those sessions and in fact showed a lot of character....scoring 400+ after down 3-0 is not an easy feast either...
