India Scraps Domestic Jet Engine Plan

A big bloody joke by damned DRDO, GOI and all the buffoon Babus.
All the misfit, substandard graduates take up jobs in Govt agencies..after that its either sweater knitting by females or bidi smoking by males.
Given up all hope from any Govt agency...Just privatize everything.

.
Its not scrapped ...GTRE has, with its efforts made an engine that can power drones, locomotives and naval vessels.

Its their first step and with experience they will deliver an engine thats flight worthy in some time future.

Mere money and time cant sometimes bring reqd technology.. its need expertise through collaborations.

The Gas Turbine Research Establishment had lots of odds against them but its common sense that " we cant be master of everything the west has made by simply spending money".

not really a failure. india never had any serious homegrown jet engine program. the kaveri is made up of parts from all over places, even the testing is done in another country. india is still incredible..:victory:

thats philosophical. sounds like a Buddhism scripture.

I think they home-made one chopper ( a distant relative of fighter jet) or doo that can fly. Can anyone confirm if this is true!

I think there is brouhaha, recently, about Kaveri engine.. for no reason.

There is official statement.. anywhere recently (only some unspecific "sources" are claimed to have said bla bla..).

That said .. defence minister told months ago that Kaveri will not be used to power LCA Mk-1 or Mk-2 because these planes need greater thrust. Same is true of AMCA.

But Kaveri is targetted to be use to fly LCA in about 3 years time .... and then the performance will assessed and .. next decisions.

So.. GTRE will continue to function as before... they need to integrate the engine with one of the LCA Tejas.

And also for UAVs and UCAVs...

china going ahead with their Jet Engine Plan is actually good news for India ;)

If you survive flying in your jet engines.

On the brighter side , your engines can compete with our MIGs :P

Oh, come on ! You should compare WS 10 with Soviet Saturn turbofan.

They didn't scrap a manufacturing plant, they didn't scrap a project, they didn't scrap a program. All they scraped was a self-delusion or as indians call it a "plan."

Kaveri is not a failure. It successfully paid thousands people handsomely. My friend's company got tens of millions for doing nearly nothing. That was a huge success. Carry on.
