India’s secret ICBM ambitions

So you mean to say India hasn't developed an ICBM yet with all those years of working and amount of money consumed by their BM program. We should thank God a zillion time for giving us such a lousy neighbor(read enemy).

Well I guess you are so lousy or rather lazy to have that little knowledge about a "Ballistic Missile System" which is designed to have a "Minimum" and a "Maximum" range for which it is tested. Agni V missile has a minimum range of 5000 Kms and a maximum range of 5800 kms which it has been successfully tested twice for a range of 5000 kms (in 2012) and for 5000+ kms (recent launch) without decreasing its payload which is about 1500 Kgs. In fact we can enhance the range of Agni-V by decreasing its payload to deliver nuclear weapons having as low yield as 20 kt but can cause heavy damage as we all know the destruction power of a nuclear bomb (Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atomic bombings yielded around 21 kt) and that too when Agni-V can carry thermonuclear weapons of yield upto 200 kt. and the MIRV version is already under consideration.

The U.S. Missile Defense Agency has the following classification:-

An intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) is a ballistic missile with a range of 3,000–5,000 km (1,865–3,100 miles), between a medium-range ballistic missile and an intercontinental ballistic missile. Classifying ballistic missiles by range is done mostly for convenience, in principle there is very little difference between a low-performance ICBM and a high-performance IRBM. ICBMs are differentiated by having greater range and speed than other ballistic missiles.

So even based on this definition too the high speed (24.0 mach for Agni-V) and range of 5000-5500 Ks. We can say, Agni-5 is an ICBM.

And as you said about the amount of money and time consumed; Let me tell you India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Program is the MOST ECONOMICAL ONE IN THE WORLD having such distinctions as mentioned which puts it in the elite group of nations. And as far as the time is concerned undoubtedly, the MTCR and other control regimes affected the progress of ISRO’s launch vehicles and DRDO’s IGMDP; the reason why India is still lagging behind in such areas with respect to China which had the Russian support ever at its disposal. BTW Painting imported missiles in Green has never been an option for India nor it will be in the future unlike Pakistan.

So before that all were Russians? being assembled in India with Russian help????

The other ones were not ICBMs, only IRBMs and MRBMs. An ICBM is a BM with range greater than 8000 kms.

So you mean to say India hasn't developed an ICBM yet with all those years of working and amount of money consumed by their BM program. We should thank God a zillion time for giving us such a lousy neighbor(read enemy).

Same goes for you. You haven't yet developed an ICBM, despite all these years and money for BMs. India developed lots of BMs in many range classes, it has not yet tried to develop an ICBM with range > 8000 kms. It is doing so only now, a natural progression after making SRBMs and MRBMs and IRBMs.

BTW do you even know what the 'IC' in ICBM stands for? If you do, then can you think of any earthly reason why India would need an ICBM against Pakistan, which not only resides in the same continent, but is actually and literally right next to India?

So what is really lousy? Your neighbor, or your brain?

You are the one posting articles giving excuse on how it has no advances because of sanctions. Why couldn't India do something by itself.

No advances in the IGMDP :P Oh dear the The Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) was established in April 1987 with an extension in 1992 to the nonproliferation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for all weapons of mass destruction as well and in the meanwhile Prithvi I missile entered in service with a range of 150 km. in 1988 after which literally all foreign collaboration may it be in ant form even the computer processors were denied to the IISC Bangalore in the suspicion that they may be used by DRDO in the IGMDP. From that day till date India has expanded its missile range from merely 150 Kms. to 5500 kms. on its own without any sort of foreign help and there you go ~~~ some trollers come up and say that "no advances because of sanctions" so where the hell did this expansion from 150 Km. to 5500 Km. came???? And to answer your question as far as the India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Program is concerned - Its a fact that India has attained it all by itself....

Typical logic displayed - 150 kms. to 5500 Kms. NO EXPANSION and reasons are to be considered as excuses!!!!! Go get a life man #pathetic

Don't tell me that you are just another DRDO's satisfied customer.

Hmm then I guess the The Missile Defense Agency of U.S. Department of Defense at Pentagon is too just another DRDO's satisfied customer :P Kudos to DRDO :yahoo:

India can build a missile. But it has no miniaturized warhead for the missile. So its a 5000KM artillery shell.

Actually you are the real customer of DRDO.....in next war you can give your feedback whether you are satisfied or not :D

Work in progress....so dont worry

In another word, India do not have a real deterrant until a warhead is mounted on there. And India has no such warheads. So India has no real deterrant.

Well I guess DRDO is already miniaturising nuclear warheads for new projectiles such as the new MIRV warheads for the Agni-III, Agni-V, Agni-VI, and for the K-15 sea-launched ballistic missile. Yes indeed Work on that is going on and it is at design stage (reported in 2012) but I expect it to be tested in 2016-17 after AGNI-IV and AGNI-V will be operational in 2015 for much progress has been made in the guidance system which will have a high degree of accuracy to offset even a small circular error of probability or a negligible deviation from the intended target.

#As the details of the K series/Sagarika missiles have been kept classified by the MoD, we will have to wait and watch for the next development on this issue.

Every inch of Pakistan is within strike range and so is every inch of China. What does it matter if we
develop ICBM or not as long as the requirements are met?

Indian military asked for a missile that can reach any part of China and that's what they're getting.

.
India has no miniaturize warheads. So even if it develop an ICBM, there is no warhead to mount on it. A Hiroshima type bomb is all India have.

First of all, Agni-V is not MIRV capable. Also, India has no miniaturized warheads. So it would need to put a Hiroshima size bomb in the missile. The missile is not going to fly that far. No wonder India could not develop MIRV and needs a heavy weight missile for a shorter distance attack.

You saw our warheads while sweeping floors?

All these missiles can be operational. But there are no warheads on them. So in effect, they are duds. Any prove on that they are being designed. Even if they design now, its a long term project. And India cannot test any more nukes so the design could be a dud. All these missile to brag about but no nuke on it. And the proud Indians just go online and especially PDF talking about Indian ICBM when India has no warheads.

You saw our warheads while sweeping floors?

India has zero missile grade warhead. Its missile are for show only. The real nuclear threat to Indian neighbors is MKI and Mirage 2000 as they are the only platform that can carry Indian nuclear bombs.

come on all these missiles are only graphics nothing in real..only for show..india cant even produce nuts like you how can they do missiles..

Always happy to see we are blessed by such neighbours..keep it up...keep your faith fooling u.

India does not produce fake weapons for show off like China.

I would have certainly agreed to you if you would have said India is falling short of nuclear warheads to be deployed in short range tactical missiles as Prahaar but as you said India has literally "no nuclear warheads" to mount on its IRBM's and ICBM's then let me tell you the lightest miniature nuclear warhead that DRDO and BARC had till now developed weighs 500 Kgs. and that is what makes AGNI-III a MIRV 4-5 possible and AGNI-V a MIRV-3 possible (Strategic thermobaric nuclear 15 to 250 kt yield) and K-15/Sagarika a MIRV-2 possible and as DRDO is already working on miniaturizing it to as light as 200 kg., I expect the first MIRV test with a capacity of MIRV 6 to 10 to be conducted in 2016-17 after AGNI-IV and AGNI-V will be operational in 2015.

#Please get your facts right before posting dear the way you said India literally does not have miniature nuclear warhead and has nothing to mount on its missiles is really pathetic
