India’s Power Ministry Endorses Tripling Duty on China Equipment

chinese talking about protectionism...

Indians talking without facts again?

Here is an article, from the most recent issue of The Economist:

The Economist - China's economy and the WTO

China imposes lower tariffs on average than Brazil or India. The gap between what it can charge, under WTO rules, and what it does charge is also unusually small. So unlike its peers, China could not raise tariffs much even if it wanted to (see chart).

. . .
China provided the financing as a condition that India purchases Chinese equipment. If this stops India from purchasing the Chinese equipment, the financing will be withdrawn. Regardless, India has no capability of making adequate power equipment and has no track record of timely delivery. I am just going to sit back and watch this circus show of freaks and thugs.

So it is only china who makes the power equipments with great record of timely delivery while rest of the world sucks! and you are a chinese!!! nothing more, nothing less!!! lol

Don't make it wrong, if that is the case than you should be in the ring. And sorry, there will be no audience to watch such a show!

Indians want to pay more for power equipment, I say go for it. Good idea!!! Protectionism is the solution to all your problems. China really doesn't need your quickly devaluing rupees anyway.

Yup, they really don't have sufficient capital without the seller financing. I really like this Indian government and how they keep shooting themselves in the foot.

the frog mentality is on full diplay here by the chinese. Indian state owned companies as well as private ones can go head to head with the chinese counterparts.

And they are still allowed to bid, the only difference being customs duty will be employed to negate the unfair advantages the chinese companies have.

.
He forgot that China is also financing Indian power sector at low intrests rates of 5% and this is not a way to play nice to cover up your own incompetencies and bogus economic growth

Wow what to say about incompetencies?
Why some people are scared to death for MFN status?

.
The world is slowly waking up to the dumping of crap products from china. You have to but look at how they wiped out many Pakistani industries

http://www.defence.pk/forums/india-...y-endorses-tripling-duty-china-equipment.html

The WTO violations what every country outside China complains about is that - China subsidizes its industries to a point where they flood the market with below cost products - which is a violation against WTO rules. Now this destroys industries, private and up and coming in other countries. Every Country outside china is affected.

for example : If Pakistan has an up and coming Solar energy company. China's solar industries are illegally subsidized by its govt and naturally since Pakistani industries can sell it's products at a loss. They go under and shut down.

So what china is doing is not just affecting the US but every country in the world!

hope similiar rules come out against huawei soon if not already there.
every time i feel so happy for indians when i see such news, nice, it's even better than seeing news on india spending xxx bln on weapons.
keep it up :)

Its a good move, we need to develop our own private sector, plus if we can buy things at the same price from Indian companies then I say go for it and cut down on the foreign imports and raise exports. We can't just rely on an FDI or service based economy, we need to start exporting things.

Financing has strings attached. India is providing $1 Billion loan to BD, the Indians want almost everything to be supplied from India.
