Economic integration usually leads to better relations. The best example in the modern era is France and Germany who turned from arch rivals in 1945 to key allies today. However even if relations arent good, trade should continue as its the common man on the street who benefits the most from it. Look at Israel and Turkey for example. Despite their recent tension trade between the two countries has remained constant.

The basic idea is you get people on both sides with a vested interest in peace and security with the other side as their livelihoods are interdependent with their neighbors. As such there would always be an inherent call for peace amongst a significant proportion of the people on both sides. That's the theory anyway.........

In reality I can't see such economic cooperation improving the situation between India and Pakistan all that much but it will gain both govts increased revenue.

It doesn't matter as long as you are getting Indian goods of same quality cheaper than other countries, Why should you waste precious dollars if you can save them ???
