LOL, India can't even produce screws... OK, China will continue to export more screws to the India air force.
But I am very curious, what can the Indian produce?
LCA? Arjun tank? Freedom 251?
Yes. screw, bearing, blade....these are like the building blocks.

These areas are where manufacturing power houses are really good at. China has 10+ bearing research institutes in the railway industry alone. We need to learn from countries like Germany to build the best building blocks. Such process is actually 10 times harder than sending a rocket to the sky. A weak country in terms of manufacturing, even given a blueprint, still can never produce one single qualified bearing, 10 years or 100 years, same.

I'm really shocked to read comments by @Rain Man such as "it is not rocket science". Yes, manufacturing a high-quality bearing is N times more complicated than sending a satellite to the orbit. Those keyboard warriors really have no idea of what they are talking about.

Such key building blocks show the fundamental differences between real manufacturing powers and self-claimed supa powas. China should continue investing billions of dollars into such key areas.

@Two @eldarlmari Pls read my previous post, these building blocks are way more important than assembling a rocket using imported components. To produce high-quality bearings and blades can help China save billions of dollars!

Ethylene industry, equivalent to steel in petrochemical industry. The foundation of ethylene industry is compressors. The most important part of compressors is impeller, previously monopolised by GE. With breakthroughs achieved by several high-skill workers, China has manufactured 800 big compressors by 2013, and saved 600 million dollars.

7:22-10:00 Numerous research institutes of bearing and the bearing industry, one of the most important components
10:00-12:10 Academy of High-speed Railway Bearing, ending the monopoly of western brands
12:10-16:05 blades, another key component, for nuclear generators, engines. etc
37:10 -38:50 Wind turbine blades exported to India

They think manufacturing is all about assembly. Making a rifle "is not rocket science" either, yet they have to issue a new global tender for 185 k assault rifles for their infantries recently. Both China and India received ToT of Mig-21 in 60s' from Soviet, and look how far they are apart now. Chinese engineers are willing to get down dirty to nuts and bolts, and try to understand every little hows and whys, while Indian engineers are more like supervisors, giving clueless orders to bunch of equally clueless workers without dirtying their own hands.

I read an article years ago, written by a German Engineer whose company supplied diesel engines for both Arjun and Type-96. The comparison of the quality and efficiency of engineers of two countries was astonishing. I thought Indian engineers had been picking up the speed, then we heard that 80% Indian engineers are "unemployable". So it is not surprise that some of supposedly educated Indians would think like him.
