India doesn't do fast equipment purchases! All of its equipment purchases are deliberate and planned years in advance.

The M777 was developed by the US arm of BAE which for all intents and purposes acts indepandtly of the UK-based European arm of BAE systems. The arty system is British in name only. Not a single peice has even been bought by the UK army!! All the training, spares, logistics etc will be coming from the US and US army. The sale is being done through the FMS route from the USG!!


And FYI the M982 GPS-guided Excalibur round is part of the package!

It was developed and manufactured in Britain by BAE,, it is not in British name only. Though it is true ~70% of the parts are US made the rest are British parts, it is still officially a British product not an American product.

I never said India is buying from the UK army, we know you're purchasing from US. See US purchases them cheaply from BAE and then sells them three to four times as much to India (per unit cost) even added on cost such as repair, spare, ammo, advisory shouldn't raise the price as much as $885 billion--although it depends on quantity as well of the parts and spares and ammo purchased--which we don't know.

That's true all of it is being done through US, what is the point of contention? It is still officially a British product as BAE is British owned multinational defense company.

If you're happy paying $885 million for 145 M777 howitzers then good for you.
