India removes 1% cap on visas of Chinese workers

BEIJING: India has done away with one per cent cap on visas being issued for Chinese workers attached to various Chinese projects in the country after streamlining the visa procedures.

The cap, imposed last year over concerns that a large number of Chinese workers were being brought to work in the Chinese projects marginalising employment opportunities for locals, was no longer required as only skilled workers were being given visas to work in India, officials said.

The skilled workers were being given employment visas instead of business category visas which was issued earlier, they said. As a result, the numbers of Chinese workers visas have also come down significantly, they said.

The visas for Chinese workers were being processed within four weeks under this category.

Visas are being scrutinised carefully based on skills and then being given, so there were no complaints from both sides so far, they said.

Streamlining of visas procedures was regarded as an important move as Chinese investment and participation in a host of Indian projects was increasing.

These are the steps taken to ensure that the cooperation started doesn't get failed due to some small reasons and I'm much sure that the process is vice versa.

By the way stop emphasizing on the smaller portion, why can't you talk about the new things started for more cooperation between the two .... oooohhhh wait I know why 'cause you are afraid rite !!!!

you guys can't deal with China and what if the two come together .... it'll a nightmare !!!!

India talks about beating CHina, India siphons of billions in forigen investment and aid to build its political clout, India talks about partnering with Japan and south korea to counter China threat, in the end India scumbs to Chinese demans and opens markets for the much needed CHinese investment.

Classic end of brahmin story...all talk no show.

I'm all for greater collaboration (let the trolls burn) between China and India. If chinese companies can do a better job of building infra, I say let em' have it. Protecting our local (state & private) development agencies will only make them lethargic. Give them some competition so they step up their act as well.
