India,ranked the greenest!

.
I read somewhere that the plan is to increase forest cover from 33% to 44%, if we can achieve it will be great. A little something we all can do for our planet:...

Dude forest policy of india says that forest cover should be atleast 33% we dont have even 28%

Even 28% is a stretch. Currently, only 23% of India's land is covered with forests.

Being a vegetarian increases the population of animals such as cow which studies have shown recently are one of the biggest cause of Carbon dioxide and monoxide.

What kind of a logic is that? Cows and other cattle are not wild animals which will go on multiplying if we don't kill them. We need products from them and that is why we try to have more and more of them. If people were to stop eating pork, the population of pigs will go down, not up. Otherwise, why are there several times more cattle now than 400 years ago? It is because we have started eating more of them (among other uses), so we breed more of them.

You are wrong about CO2 and CO AFAIK. Cows etc eat a lot of roughage and so pass a lot of methane. The problem is that methane is 100 times more potent than CO2 as far as greenhouse effect is concerned. New Zealand is working on changing their diet so that they pass less methane!

@arun u r right abt Methane but I read cows are most responsible for producing such gas which is not good for environment.

Indeed that is true. What I disputed that your assertion that going vegetarian will increase the population of the cows and other cattle. In fact, in the medium to long term, it will significantly reduce their numbers. But since they account foe a very small proportion of the GHG produced, it is probably not worth it. It will be much better to cut back on the SUVs and increase the forest cover.

they even consume grasslands and budding plants if allowed to gaze in open field.

To protect environment i do my part.

The logic being vegetarian and going green is, trees take in carbon-di-oxide and give out oxygen so we need more trees

and the animals take in oxygen and give out carbon-di-oxide which adds to the global warming

There is large scale animal farming be it goats, cows, pigs done in western countries (read thousands, lakhs) for human consumption so you can images all that carbon-di-oxide and global warming along with it, which is not very friendly for our planet

I also want to enlighten that for producing 1 tonne of meat out of animals we require nearly 4 tonnes of grains
which is very less efficiency

yes india can be because it is too big and it can be ranked in the world greenest and most of india oarts connected with soth asia too where greenery is their identification countries likes of srilanka is also too much green but it is smalll so it cannot compete with india
