India Puts It's Military Might on Display

Honestly, it's India's festival/event/day - I don't think we have any business criticizing their parades etc.

Asking questions about why they do certain things in their parades/events and/or what things mean is fine.

And our republic day and independence day arent only a military parade , they are much more like celebrating cultural diversity of India. Many states display their Culture through tableux.

We are here to debate whatever we find interesting, what i found is that they train some soldier to perform circus to get more attention but they can do it other way also...but soldiers in uniform doing circus certainly disgrace persons in uniform.

Absolutely, which is why I said that asking questions about why they do certain things in their parades, what they mean etc is perfectly fine.

But when you start denigrating them (it looks like a circus act etc etc) then you're crossing a line. It's their culture - who are we to judge? It's not like someone is being harmed (sati, infanticide, lynchings etc).

I disagree that it's fine - we might disagree on geo-politics and bilateral issues but a distinction needs to be made between criticizing the State for certain policies/actions and criticizing someones culture/religion.

Obviously there is a big difference between the culture of dancing spontaneously and breaking out singing hysterically and military change of guards and military discipline display......
riding a motor bike and hanging off the bike show no culture of celebration.

Me is sure we would see them also on german National Day Parade - if we would have such thing - including pink tanks and make-up tips for female soldier.

Me think this is all going to far. Army is for war. Police is for security and order. All other "happenings" are complete nonsense.
