India Plans 7% Increase in Defense Budget

Its the same with us, pensions arent included in the defence budget.

A couple of years back 80% of Indian defence budget was going towards salaries now it have gone down to 67% because of increase in budget size. Still it is massive to spend 67% on pay and also Indian forces are demanding from government to recruit another million troops........

You have no clue on how and on what scheme's capital purchases are made.

Indian Defence Budget will increase 6-7% a year, while the salaries after this increase will remain moreover the same for atleast the next 10 years

Out of the 89,000 crores, 39,400 crores is meant for capital acquisitions....ie 56% for non capital expenditure and 44% for capital acquisitions.

The basic assumption members are making here is that all of the 56% of non capital expenditure goes for Salaries. Who pays for the fuel, training excercises, upgradation of exisitng facilties??? All of these goes from the non-capital expenditure side.

And also wrt to 44% capital expenditure. The acquistions are not fully paid up, its like a first advance payment and the remaining in tranches. So 39,400 can buy atleast items worth 5multiples of it.
