All the incidences of pre 2002 are kind of faked, nothing was elevated to that level and there was no danger of a nuke war. In 2002, there may have been a chance with the massive buildup, the COAS and other related personnel would have given it a thought.

As for 2008, mobility did take place, some MSB's were moved here and there, but again, nothing too great.

Hoodbhoy is more concerned with authorized misuse of nuclear weapons, not about them getting stolen by ragtag Talibans. The guy has a point, however lame it might be.

Here is the technically important part regarding nuclear weapons safety:



As far as the confrontation part is concerned:

1. 1987- Mere verbal threat. Pakistan had no deliverable nuclear weapons at that time.
2. 1990- Nothing was THAT serious IMO.
3. 1999- Pakistan had deliverable nuclear weapons, but unreliable and less survivable delivery systems. Again, more verbal threats.
4. 2002- Likely possible.
5. 2008- Pakistan did start considering preparation.

thats exactly what i was thinking all along which means 3 years earlier in 1984 when the siachen conflict started, Pakistan was still not a full fledged nuclear power other wise the situation could have gone out of hand quite dangerously ! this query has a'lot of significance from a psyop point of view

theres a'lot of these pseudo intellectuals types here & some are quite popular they have a very extreme liberal approach even if one talks about say hijab they will label him a "fundo" ( a local slang for fundamentalist) bro tomi bishas korbana kintu akhane bangladesher theke o beshi dalal ra ache era shara din Islam ke criticize kore ar ratre bela mod khai eider karnama deikha to foreigner ra o lojja kore !
