Rabindranath Tagore and Subhas Chandra Bose, were frequent visitors to the place.

These are the classic coffee joints of India but some of the youngsters might not find it hip or cool

they will beat your CCd and barista in major Urban area, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, in small towns where they won't get in, barista and alike will stay alive.

bad news for Indian's same industries. But overrall its something good offered to world business.

Beat CCD ?, that would be extraordinarily difficult. CCD has ten thousand acres (Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company Limited )of coffee estates in Coorg (also where Starbucks will procure from through Tata Coffee), is hugely cash rich (they haven't even bothered to go public because as the spokesperson said "we don't need the money"), own investment companies(Way2Wealth) & resorts & are not about to be scared away by people who have to buy coffee & then sell it, even if they go by the name Starbucks. (Interesting titbit : V.G. Siddhartha who owns CCD is the son-in-law of foreign minister S.M.Krishna)

No starbucks or anything can beat ccd; not definitely in the near future... The scale of operations of ccd is sooo big, just matching upto them will be a pain in the A for em.. In all 1250 cafes and counting... Hech matching, even 25% of its size will be too much for them to achieve...!! And its not into just serving coffee in the cafes, its a leading exporter of coffee from India..!!

Café Coffee Day - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is a CCD in Karachi also..!! :smitten:

Whenever abroad, NEVER convert costs to desi currency.....

You will never live a peaceful life.
Right! In France, a bottle of mineral water will cost you 2 Euros. Converted, that means Rs120 !!! Damn! Rs120 for a bottle of water? And you need at least six bottles a day for a couple. That adds up to Rs720 per day just for water!! And that means Rs21,600 for a month of drinking water supply!!

In a nutshell: THIS SUCKS!!

So, if you're traveling to Europe, make sure you have enough foreign exchange in Euros or you'll dehydrate and die a painful death!! Sheeesh!

.
india should focus on its own companies like CCD and all coz' investing on other companies will lead to cash flow outside of india...let CCD grow and expand and become international till it reaches even the smallest countries including switzerland...indianize it as somebody said in the beginning!!

I'd be out of my mind to have a cup of Starbucks coffee for Rs 125! Jeeez!

And in places like Kalahandi, even a square meal a day is a luxury! But who cares? Bring on the Walmarts, Starbucks, Ikeas, Nikes and the rest. If you can't afford it, then go take a bl00dy hike! :coffee:

with all due respect to ur emotion and anger i just want to know : How not bringing these brands will help the poor from all over india. do u think that people will donate their money to poor or what ?

any way no one can beat CCD .. it is owned by son in law of our Hon Minsiter SM Krishna. :) now beat this one ;)

Actually its for those people who think hanging out/having coffee at starbucks is so "cool" and they are "hip" :D
IKEA will soon see how much India likes carpenter as they can have their personal touch in their furniture.

CCD is quite good though, one can spend 50-60 bucks on coffee over some intellectual discussions. But the kind of friends i have, a 5 rupee tea seems overpriced. :D

And IKEA will be a big failure, there were many corporate furniture makers in India before, now we don't even remember their name.
