Poverty in India is a highly subjective matter. I know many 'poor' who live in well built houses and even own 2 wheelers. Many in my place deliberately take BPL (Below Poverty Line) ration cards so as to take advantage of the various benefit schemes of the Govt. They are poor in the eyes of the Govt, but not in the real sense. Also the many of the poor are the tribals who live deep inside Jungles under the influence of the Maoists or beyond reach of Govt.Anyways you are free to believe what you want to believe.
