India: Muslim told to not offer Namaz neither wear scull cap in the presence of police.

How is this different in any way to what is actually happening to Muslims in China?

I am sure you would agree that state sponsored activities in China have a lot more pressing and real impact than the brain fart of a lone Indian in one state of India.

Of course that is my way of looking at things.

Personally I believe that the burqa and regressive and patently misogynistic marriage laws for Muslims (Sharia I believe it is called) have no place in modern Indian society and I am more than a bit disappointed that the BJP wasted it's mandate on beef and missed the opportunity of doing something concrete for Muslim women in India.

I'm really open to beards and namaz.

But a complete NO to being bombarded at 5 a.m. by azans from powerful loudspeakers all over our cities, disturbing the peace for everyone.

Cheers, Doc

Naah, I have met many Indian Muslim in reality in many places (USA, UK, Sweden, UAE) and they behave like any other Muslim would but the PDF samples are very different...

I agree. India's Gujrati muslim diaspora especially, mashallah are one the most pious bunch of muslims representing India.

I have seen Indian Muslims more observant than Pakistani ones.
But then I have only seen the elites of Pakistan in Uni.

The Hyderabadis tend to be very religious among Indians.

Pakistanis in the West, esp in the US, are not a good sample of the general Pakistani home or international population.

I mean no offense what so ever, but from my observations elite Pakistani Punjabis in America and Canada are not as observant.

It's the same case with Bengalis among the diaspora, with the exception of bengalis coming from Sylhet, upper class bengalis are barely observant. I went to an iftar dawat hosted by non-sylhetis, when it was time for Maghrib jamat the host of the house embarrassingly did not even know the direction of the qibla, we had to pull out our cell phone's qibla compass lol.

I know for sure the Mirpuris in the UK are very religious in general.

Lol

Too much effort (and expectations) for a cup of coffee no?

Can't I just wear a jaali waali topi and nod sagely and utter a half dozen times (at least) "Thank you Jinna"?

Cheers, Doc
