India : Muslim family forced to leave theatre for not standing during national anthem

The state has local laws regarding this apparently. I agree mob vigilantism is a slippery slope...everyone should have just called the cops instead.

If there is an explicit law covering the circumstances, they should have called the cops. If not, they should have called the management.

. .
Once again we are talking about private institutions not wild wild west. If someone misbehaves in a bar, you ask the the bouncers to throw him out, don't start fighting yourself. That way you prevent them from breaking the law.

A bar has bouncers, a park or a theatre has none.

The next time your wife or daughter get teased in a park, you might want to take back your words. Or at least pray that not everybody is a coward like you. There are still men out there who take a stand when they see something wrong.

.
So the next time you see a women being molested you will go running to find the nearest cop ?

What if that girl happens to be someone you know ? what if she is someone you are related too ?

Its why I said it's a slippery slope.

Molestation/rape/physical harm whatever.....means direct intervention is obviously required, if you are in the position to provide that.

Some anti-nationals sitting during an anthem......thats more a matter for the police....since a) no one is physically harming anyone and b) they really should be prosecuted to the extent of the law.....not just chased away by a mob.

There is difference between a public park and movie hall run by private company. If they have laws for admission to hall, they need to have means to enforce it. Just like they have ways to stop someone with a gun to enter the hall.

Yes amazing display of courage by leering, booing, clapping, shouting at a family with kid. Keep your fake bravado to yourself and shove it.

. .
You cannot force someone to respect your national anthem. It might be holier for one but not for other so in a free country their freedom of expression should be respected at any cost.

The concept of harm is multi faceted.

Anyone breaking the law is causing harm to society. Not all harm involves physical hurt either.

A show of disrespect to the nation is a show of disrespect to you and your family. To everything you value in this Nation. To all those heroes who have died for this Nation.

If you have somebody who has died for the nation in YOUR family you might feel different when you see someone disrespect that nation. Its an insult to their memory and it makes a mockery of their sacrifice.

Law has the FINAL Say. In between we all get to have our say. Remember that.

Well even the flag is racist , orange on top and green at bottom

Similarly , fake consensus data to keep Muslims down time for Civil war in India , people should stand up and claim their birth right

Not at any cost.

As has already been pointed out, there is the right of the individual, and there is the countervailing right of the institution, private or public. And there are local laws. There is no prescriptive right to break laws in expressing oneself freely.

The next time that family goes out wit the kid, they might do well to remember that humiliation

Better still the kid will remember and learn the do's and don't s and grow up to be someone who Respects India so that he does not have to end up like his Dad.

Finally the responsibility of protecting the kid and the family lies with the Dad, and it was he who put his family in danger when he chose confrontation over simple gesture of Respect.

Perhaps you should find out what the colours represent, rather than jumping to somewhat bucolic conclusions. And nobody has really found grave fault with Indian census data. Is this a new bit of martyrdom seeking? Nice to be in on the inception.

Never thought the day would come when I would agree with you. Wonders will never cease.
