No actually if that was the case then Bangladesh would have been affected by the 2004 Tsunami. Bangladesh was not affected at all but India and Sri Lanka was. The coast of Bangladesh is already shallow. It will take a significant increase in sea level to sink Bangladesh. In the meantime India will go under water.

Understand the difference between a Tsunami and rise of sea level..

Tsunami travels in waves therefore looses effect if the land mass lies perpendicular to direction or waves or in Bangladesh's case protected by a bay.eg (it hardly effected Singapore but destroyed Sumatra)...ie Tsunami is independent of sea shore height.

Whereas
Rise is sea (or change in base line) is a gradual process ..sea levels will rise by the same amount everywhere ..so if you are in a low lying costal area ..it will be first to be underwater.

Now this Bangladesh

Now if sea level rises by 1 mtr(as is expected to happen in this century itself) ..you will loose 1/5th of your country

Because 'yet' you are still couple of meters above sea level..wait till sea level rises to your base line ...waters will flow inwards.

No Global Warming is there but the affects of sea level rise on Bangladesh is alarmist and largely invented to justify Indian border fencing to the rest of the world.

India has not mapped your country, terrain mapping satellites have..these very same satellite picture show us ..that most of your country lies only few meters above sea level.

India has not decided that sea level is increasing ..global scientific community believes so.

So you add A + B you get C. ie rise in sea level + low lying Bangladesh = Bangladesh under water.

A dumb hick would also understand that 'believes so' is not exactly scientific data. Where are the facts showing actual see rise rather predicted sea rise?
