Secondly, my telephone company's call center is in India, manage by an IT giant I have worked for in the past. My Gas supplier's call center is in India.

What people think of your Indian cheap service sector? For example a bank in the UK have their TV ad based on one simple incentive, local call centres, rather than having phony Indians on the phone.

Please don't try to teach me about your service sector. Asked general people of UK, USA about your call centers and their services, you will get a very good idea, how fad up people are from your cheap service sector.

We all also know why Multinational companies have chosen India, because they can hire anything 5 to 10 people in the same amount of money they pay to one staff in the UK and USA.

Service sector is not only and only call center.I dont know,what you do in IT,but the way you draw your conclusions makes me think that you have a pinhole point of view of looking at things ,which may not be your fault actually.Probably someday,when you will grow up enough to have a top-down view,then you would realize the entire scope of service sector and its relation to India.
The bottom line is,India companies are making a good business while many others cant.Thats why,the money is flowing towards India,and not other way around.

The paragraph says very clearly that the figure of $1.25 is transfered in to the Rupees not based on the real value of the Rupees against the dollars, but using PPP value. If it was a straight conversion it wouldn't be different for the rural and urban areas.

But then foolish people who are good in boosting, can not make sense of their own quotations.

1.25 dollars in absolute terms converted to Indian Rupee = Rs. 56.25
The article says $1.25 in PPP terms is Rs. 21.60. And people living below Rs.21.60 (adjusted PPP to $1.25) is 42%
Now let us remove the PPP factor and consider it in only Rupee terms.
I am not claiming $1.25 = Rs.21.60 in absolute terms which is clearly in PPP terms.
However, it is clear that in India 42% of the people earn below Rs. 21.60. If I had claimed 42% of Indians earn less than $1.25(Rs. 56.25) in absolute terms, I will be wrong but that was never the claim. Rs. 21.60 is absolute as it is the currency in which people earn in India.

Now let us look at what a crank claimed : 74.4% of India live under Rs. 20 a day. This is clearly wrong.

Even after this clear cut explanation someone does not want to understand, then please consider this my last post in this aspect.
