India Maoists call for strike over Koteshwar Rao killing

grievances of people in these areas and providing them means and opportunity to grow and prosper.

Buddy, all mao infected states have allotted thousands of Crs development funds.

The collectors of those mao affected districts are sitting on funds as they have no contractor ready to go into those BS places and get attacked.

Mao have caused severe damage to infrastructure. Blasted rail lines, stations, power stations, kidnapped innocent tribal people, raped tribal women what not..!!!!

Let's just stick to the facts here. The successful coin that Andhra Pradesh did against the Maoists seems to be wearing off:

Six more districts in AP may be declared ‘Naxal-affected':

Business Line : Industry & Economy / Economy : Six more districts in AP may be declared

Yes from the same article,

He said at present 60 districts in the country have been identified as Naxal-affected, including two in Andhra Pradesh (Adilabad and Khammam), and six more districts in Andhra Pradesh may join the list including Visakhapatnam district. “Six mandals out of the 11 mandals in the agency area in the Eastern Ghats in the district are affected by the problem,” he said .

So yes 60 districts, and not 300 district as mentioned by BBC.

This is the viewpoint of the Union Minister for Rural Development, & his viewpoint might not reflect the true realities on the ground. There is no doubt that India has clamped hard on the Maoist threat from last year, & has been reasonably successful for the most part, but the Maoists still have a huge presence over the country.

Its not his personal viewpoint. Thats the viewpoint of Indian Government. 60 districts are Maoist affected. Down from bs claim of 300.

You ll see how big their presence is on the day of this "strike" called by them.

How much of India is Maoist-affected?

The notion that 200 districts or one-third of India is under the grip of Maoists is bogus. Maoists present a formidable challenge in 35 districts across nine states in the country, and have a significant presence in another 48 districts. This is not to diminish the challenge posed by the Maoists, which is the gravest internal security threat facing the country today. While those who try and brush the Maoist menace under the carpet are guilty of ignoring the truth, those who overstate the case are equally guilty of spreading fear-mongering and hysteria.

Thats the plan bhai. Get rid of these Maoist leaders, channel money into these regions, and people move on with their life.

There's been a lot of Maoist incidents in Maharashtra, they are increasing their presence in Andhra Pradesh. That's 7 states in total, & 7 huge states. These are separate from the 7 sister states in North East India that are influenced by separatist movements. There were also intelligence reports that were saying that Maoists in Kerala were getting trained in Jharkhand.

I remember one map that was peddled in this forum by some of our neighbours in which some parts of Kerala was also shown as affected. Later it was found that some CPI(M) worker(s) was killed in a inter-party clash. The author thought CPI(M) was shortform for for Communist Party of India (Maoist) than the real one Communist Party of India(Marxist)..which is a mainstream political party.

You know a lot about Maoists sitting in US, than Indians living in India.

So now we have 14 states in trouble.

Very bad day ahead for India.

It means Maoists have much public support in India :
The rebels have a strong presence in more than a third of India's 600 districts, and have been described by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the country's biggest security threat.
I don't think so ..Not here..
and they should not get support from any other part of India also..They are not representing any of Indian people now..They are just killing people for their own benefits

I believe they have a presence in close to 200 districts in India, but operate (in &) out of 60 districts.

.

First of all there is no mention of Kerala in this article and you forgot the main sentence in this article "The Maoists have become squeezed in their traditional central states.".

Anyways its funny that you quote from BBC, which your countrymen accuses of being in bed with India.

I believe they have a presence in close to 200 districts in India, but operate (in &) out of 60 districts.

So according to you , if a Maoist walks through my district it will come under Maoist affected.
