India 'Maoist' bomb blast kills 15 police- March 27 2012

So i'll enjoy my cup of joe, type away to my heart;s content, while India passess rules and regulations to control the internett and media in order to sway misinformed ppl who think dams can last a 1000 yrs and the nuclear industy is perfectly safe. Till now folks thought India had no problems with its industry, yet when a RTI was filed it was denied for a long long time. After it came out, it revealed why. Then folks switched their arguements to ay it only affects those who work in such industries. Do you see where I am going with this?

No. I don't see where you are going with it at all. But wherever it is, don't. Because you are going far away from the topic of the thread. Stop bringing in the nuclear industry and mullaperiyar to this thread, which is about maoists.

.
Growing up observing Naxalites in my own native state, I know the reality 1000 times more than you who is sitting in a foreign country.

Yet you assume I never lived in India and dealt with Maoists? I know there are many groups, each work independently of each other but come together on core issues. I know they are not perfect and many in the leadership have indulged in ways that are polar opposites to it's founding and purpose. They stop development in order to prevent the govt from winning. It's all about tactics. When the govt fails to act properly for 40 yrs, its not going to be easy. After 22/11 , the maoists even sided with India. But as things are changing, India better watch out coz they are branching into alliances with our enemies as we tighten the noose. You will never destroy maoists, they will just hide, reinvent themselves and blend in. The only way to win is win their hearts and minds.

Yeah, so I guess I don;t know much

Its all interwined and complex. The big picture is corruption and that is the reason for many issues we have today. Even if you arrest ppl, they are not punished severely.

No, these issues are not intertwined. There is no link between maoists, mullaperiyar and nuclear plants. It doesnt all come under the umbrella of a magic word called corruption. Thats very simplisitic thinking, to assume that everything you hate is because of one large conspiracy. Paucity of thought.

Please don't bring in those completely unrelated issues into this thread.

Paucity of thought? Do you really think corruption is so minimal and minute throughout the Indian govt? It starts at the top and permeates throughout the entire country. You want to sideline and compentalize corruption, sure go ahead. But its issues like nuclear energy and dams that bring very little debate and a govt willing to steamroll the process which feeds support for the maoists.

Oh damn it man, talk about corruption in a thread about corruption. It is certainly a big issue, but that doesn't mean you call everything as corruption and talk about corruption, nuclear power and mullaperiyar on a thread about maoists.

I can observe deep leftist orienation in your comment. I won't deny their is corruption in states of India. And I know these maoist who run culture of prostitution in their women cadre, it sounds joke when we talk of their ideology. And I never heard they supported India for 26/11, nor I want to know their crocodile tears.

As for their growing influence is considered, i observed their movement getting shrunk, like in my native Bihar, the poorest area in India, they are still only in 5-6 districts out of 37. And even in last 45 years they could not increase influence in any areas north of ganga river where majority lives, not even in all districts of South Bihar. In 90s there used to be large scale violence, even that is absent today. People in my State care more about earning daily wages instead of mao's stupid ideology.

They have some hot-spots in few areas like robbers have and there influence are visible only in those areas.

And chinese cousins. Don't forget what maoism did to China, and how many millions died as a result of mao's ideologies. The chinese were smart enough to ditch those ideals and move on to market based economy like the rest of the world. I wonder what kind of treatment these "maoists" would get in mao's homeland.

Maoism also led to a higher life expectancy than South Korea during Mao's administration and higher literacy than India today (40 years later). Don't forget nuclear submarines (India still does not have an operational one) and hydrogen bombs acquired before even France, while India still uses puny fission weapons.

If India had Maoism maybe you would be at the stage China is in today, in about 40 years.

Could you tell me how maoism helped to build better nuclear weapons? I don't see the logical connection. Maybe if you had a few maoists today you would build an F-22 also?

Corelation does not imply causation - one of the first principles in logic. Just because China once had maoists, and CHina has submarines, doesnt mean that one caused the other.

I will tell you one thing - maoists in India are definitely not helping us build submarines. Please explain the bizzare connection.

Subs and nuclear weapons are built by doing good science, not by political ideologies like maoism or capitalism or monarchy or anything else.

And to understand the ilogicity of your thoughts further, consider this - Britain had higher literacy standards in the 50s than china has even today. Does that say anything about maoism versus capitalism? You can pick and choose statistics, but that does not mean you can imply causation.

The cultural revolution and the horrors that followed was directly a result of mao's ideologies. But if china built submarines, that is because china did good science and engineering. Not because maoism helped build them.

No way dude, no leftist attitude or leaning. I agree they are shrinking due to the economic progress India has made. And I hope they continue to do so. I only want all Indians to be treated equally and fair. That's why I pointed out how they were very different when they first arrived to the scene decades ago. They have themselves become corrupted and have to kidnapp children to indoctrinate into their ranks. Thats why they resort to tactics like blowing up schools, people with no opportunities and hope are easier to hope. My only purpose was to point out that they had very legitmate reasons for doing what they did. Unfortunately many of their leadership have lost their way. If India listens to her ppl and makes a sincere effort to stamp out corruption, nobody can stop us.

As for the poster, fairandunbiased, India has a path that is better than China in certain ways. China's path is a blind alley and there is not elling where it will go. India fallacy was not listening to its ppl and allowing corruption to slow her destiny. Once, ppl like Anna Hazare stand up, you will see Indian Democracy at its finest. Nuff said till then.

So I take it you can't answer the question, since you gave a thoughtless, irrelevant, one line flaim bait.

The question was how did maoism help to build better submarines, which was the bizzare claim you made. You can't answer it, so instead you start a flaim bait about arundhati roy because you know most indians on this forum hate her, so praising her is the best way to divert attention from the question you can't answer.

Nice try, but I won't take that bait.

RIP. A good lesson for all of us who laugh at other country's misfortunes but are quick to forget their own.

RIP to dead.

There is India insurgency thread for posting terrorist attacks in India.
Mods please merge the thread with India Insurgency thread.

Why do some Indians hate her? She is on point with many issues. I had only one issue with her when she tried to say Kashmir should be given up, which blew the top of my lid considering how many good folks died for that pirce of land.
