India launches new healthcare scheme for Bangladeshi freedom fighters

I have to disagree with you. You can see Vietnam or phillipines still call there menu in there own language and then in bracket they write in english what it made of but they never try to sell there food as chinese. Bd can definitely create it's own brand and own identity but our people wont go for it. Food is big part of tourism and thousands of bd own restaurants promoting indian tourism instead there own. Seriously country with 170 million cent create it's own brand? It's own food? And marketing it...that's very lame excuse. Even Taiwan which are chinese people extention dont call there bubble tea as Chinese but Taiwanese. At the end you cant expect thousands of tourists flock to bd when there are no brand building or separate identity. All we talk about is 1971 bla bla three million more bla bla and any one dispute BAL is a rajakar. If bd ppl are so patriotic then they would have make the effort to create bangladesh brand value instead of trying so hard being indian. It's simple as that. All this Patriotism is just on paper only.

Bro, please tell me a curry from an Indian balti restaurant what is native to bengali khani probably a couple, Dupiaza and some others if they add a speciality section.

This is why it is indian food.

I think you'll find the problem in BD, where even the native version of biriyani is termed as "Indian food" in Dhaka, where even where they sell our Bakharkhanis is termed as Indian food. What the hell is up with that.

Most Bengalis are hardcore labour, they won't buy into his pep talk.

Maybe our next generation will be different and re brand bangladesh. We have to wait and see. If we can keep up with social and economic progress the bangladesh as a brand will have different meaning 15 years from now.

Those dishes are are not Indian. They are Mughali dishes brought to Hindustan by Muslim invaders. Indian are vegekoor. They are the one copying some of our dishes.

In London, Syloti stared restaurant business since British time as Indian restaurant. Unfortunately, they didn’t rebrand it as Pakistani or Bangladeshi after break up of British India.

In BD people call local biryani Indian food? Bakar khani Indian food? Where did you get that from? I grew up all my life in the old town, centre of biryani and bakar khani, never ever heard people calling them Indian food.

Bakar khani Indian food?
But Bakarkhani is an Indian bread bro, there may be some variants that are unique to your country. The version found in my place is very different to your varieties and we consume it as our evening snacks once in a while.

It’s Kashmiri to be precise.

Not going to change unless Bd goes back to its Islamic root. I don’t see it is happening so long Hasina is lurking around.

Not necessarily, there are other variations too like Old Delhi or Dhaka style.

But since you are a Sylheti you must know that the Sylheti bakarkhani is very different to the other varieties, it is like a sweetened soft bread unlike the cookie/pastry form of other kinds. And that's the version popular in Assam, both regions being closely related in terms of cuisine.

All roots on the subcontinent and it's indigenous populace finally reach Dharmic bedrock.

Om Shanti.

Cheers, Doc

Yes, it’s sweet and I personally don’t like it. I also don’t like Zarda rice.

Again, fact of the matter is all these wonderful dishes were created by Muslims. Correct me if I am wrong???

Was the payment not enough? Paid mercenaries only get paid, maybe they were unhappy. By the way dont whine when we provide health facility to freedom fighters in kashmir

Please do, we encourage it rather.
Only thing is if they try to come back to india they will be greeted by guns.

I like it more with mutton fry than with tea as accompaniment.

Your Sylheti cuisine, to my knowledge, is heavily influenced by both NE Indian tribal cuisine and Muslim influence. This comes as no surprise as Islam has left an indelible mark in art, architecture and culture of the Indian subcontinent.

No it's not. At least not the one we have. There is a legend associated with the Bakarkhani also, it's a love story between Baker and Khani Begum.

And don't listen to the razakar dalal, everything is from his baper desh according to him. The Bakarkhani that is found in Dhaka (only in old town) is not sweet, it's texture is between a bread and biscuit, cooked in a deep clay oven. Nowadays because of it's extreme popularity some of the makers came up with sweet variety. The original one is not sweet. Photo of the original ones here.

I dont think its about religion. Bd has long tradition of distinct cuisine and we should do something to introduce those in west instead always keep focusing same usual staff.

You are right. My dada bari is at lalbagh kamrangirchar area and old Dhaka has some of the most delicious food. Way better then butter chicken and usual same old brown food I keep eating in canada when I go to brown restaurants. I wish some one from bd introduce those old dhaka foods here too.

I lived most of my life in Narinda, Tikatuli and Laxmibazar. I grew up eating those foods, never, not a single time in my entire life did I hear anybody in Dhaka saying those are Indian foods.

As I said Indians and Bangladeshis are one people in two countries. Thank you India for your friendly gesture. This special health scheme should be for all Bangladeshis. :)

The government of India has initiated a new scheme for providing medical treatment to 100 Muktijoddha patients every year.

The High Commission of India said under the initiative the freedom fighter patients will be provided free medical treatment in Indian Armed Forces hospitals.

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has partnered with Indian High Commission to select deserving patients covering all districts of Bangladesh.

This year also, 100 Mukti joddhas will be selected and given treatment in Indian Armed Forces Hospitals.

The ministry has posted an advertisement on their official website www.molwa.gov.bd.

Applicants are advised to visit the website and submit their application to the civil surgeon’s office in their respective district as per the prescribed application format before Aug 22.
