You all seem pretty negative and cynical, I honestly don't see what problem you guys have with Indians. While they do only help us for their own self interest, who else wouldn't. To be honest they do seem like one of our most reliable "Allies" with countries such as China being to Inconsistent.

Why on earth do you want Indian paws on developing cities? The BDeshis severely lack in this regard, a country requires its own characteristic and style.

But, why Indians? When most of their land mass is a cesspit no offence. Let them invest in sanitary instruments first!

We need all the help we can get, all the development we have had so far was not just due to the sheer willpower of Bangladeshis, it was done with the help of foreign powers, likewise future development will also be dependent on outside investments. I honestly don't see a problems with working with the Indians, they are the Superpower in the region and there is no way Bangladesh will surpass them, so may as well work with them. I would like for the comparison bewtween the two countries be like that between Japan and China.

There are at least three items wrong in that statement.

Please study up about India - your views about India are completely different from Bangladeshis here. Almost like some Indians themselves, almost Sanghi-like. :)

May Allah Subhanahu Ta'ala help the uninitiated and innocent from devious schemers and cheaters.

On a personal level Bangladeshis have no issues in dealing with Indians. But we are talking about Billions in trade here, and actual success portfolios.

Where have Indians set up smart cities? US? Australia? UK??

Rome wasn't built in a day, USA got freedom 240+ years ago, it was nothing compared to European powers back in 1800's, It took them 200 years to become what it is today, give India at-least a 100 (2050) years and we will become half of what US is.
well for you toilet rant, read this...

Seoul developed an entire new connected city. India is trying to replicate that success. Why do we need to go to India for this? A country of a billion plus that is dependent on imports and yet to commercially offer its own computer processors or even any data-center/network hardware?

This area used to be trash dump (nordoma) in Seoul ten years ago,

On a personal note, I am so glad Bengalis jumped the fence to India over the last 40 years instead of going to Pakistan if we had not seperated.

Karachi would have stunk with the smell of machli chawal
no thank you :bad:

Your personal feelings are relevant only to you. No one else cares.

If India hadn't interfered, it would have taken us maybe twelve months instead of nine to liberate Bangladesh. Arms would have come in - in some other conduit. A whole nation cannot be subdued if they are determined. Study Dien Bien phu sometime.

By the time ragtag under-nourished Indian Army rolled in we helped them with logistics, intel and planning to defeat the Pakistani Army which was mostly limited to sitting in a few cantonments. The prize was theirs for the taking.

In return - the retreating Indian army stole everything clean from all our industrial establishments as war-booty. This is well documented and a fact.

Indian govt. interfered because of its own two selfish goals incubated since 1947,
  1. Break Pakistan to strategically make it a weak and a failed state and neutralize any threat on its East.
  2. Make East Pakistan (Bangladesh) a convenient 15~20 Billion dollar market without taking on the headache of administering and paying for developing this Muslim-majority area.
In hindsight - first goal was mostly met.

Second goal will eventually backfire (it is already this way) because Bangladesh will unexpectedly become a major source of manufactured imports for India, and be a market only for low grade inputs/resources and low-cost non-value-addition items from undeveloped NE India. The closed economy high tariff model for India is not sustainable.

Can India sell low grade garbage like Hajmola candy, Dabur toothpaste and Parachute coconut oil in Bangladesh? Possibly for now - as there are plenty of poor people. But they have to be made locally.

Can India sell manufactured high-value-addition items like fridges, aircons, microwaves, tv's to Bangladesh? Not likely and Not ever. Even Indian motorcycles (like Hero) have to be locally made now.

I have done you a favor but I am not going to discuss this any further as it is off-topic.
