Bhadrakumar (from whose blog that OP is taken) is right in that western intervention in Syria is amoral.

But Bhadrakumar is blindly anti-western ... he often goes against Indian interests in the area of most concern, i.e. South Asia.

As regards the India's vote on the Syria issue, I cannot support it. But we should also recognize that it is irrelevant.

I think we will have to wait for Modi in 2014 for India to take a strong stand on various issues.

It is complicated ... for example would Saudis have extradited Abu Jundal so willingly if India were to oppose their Syria policy openly?

I don't support the foreign intervention in Syria, but why should India stick it's neck out when the Russians themselves are wobbling? Let Russia and China take a clear stand first.

I am thinking that this UN Security Council membership is not worth the trouble. Why do we need UNSC membership if we can build adequate stocks of ICBMs and nuclear submarines. That is a very achievable goal in the near future.

No because Pakistan does not want to double the killing of Syrian people by voting in favour of UN intervention...
