Basic vocational training will suffice

Not higher education for those basic work, but basic education is needed.

In fact a very big problem was that we had a huge gap in 'semi-skilled' work force. So a large project to train 50 million semi skilled people was started under UPA 2. Will take a few years but that group will become increasingly available. As of today if you have such education (Industrial Training Institute etc.), you will generally have no problems getting a job (you'll probably be in some demand actually).

And that's somehow 'better' than Sen? Starting an Ivy league university is not like starting vishakapatnam university. IIT's & IIMs became famous because of their association with MIT and Harvard Business School.

Sen was doing all the right things. He 'sold' the idea to a lot of important stakeholders and in its very first course attacted applications from over 40 different countries (unheard of for even the IITs)

And he gets booted out because he doesn't like Modi? The problem with Indian Universities is exactly that policians interfere and in the US or UK that is very limited. Whatever the merits of Yeo, the fact that Sen was thrown out and his legacy is being tarnished only because he hated Modi is clear.

Again, if you want to start Patna University you can do it the Smriti Irani way. If you want to start an Ivy league, leave it to people who know how to do it. If Nalanda has to become the Cambridge of the east, the best that (MA corresponce) Modi can do is let it function under people who know how to do it, instead of letting politicans and beureaucrats run it.

- being an international university it will be not under UGC which is understandable but that is done from very start
