Few things i would like to mention after reading this article:
1. Read a lot of similar article in recent months, all written by Indians. If one look closely, all seems to be written by one person or a group. Same flow, same idea, same usage of words.
2. Opening is always great, dramatization and visualization of the place is always excellent. Just like script of a movie.
3. In these articles, the reference point of Afghan problems is always Taliban regime (in other words blame Pakistan). Writers tend to conveniently brush under the carpet Soviet invasion, the all the mess and post Soviet withdrawal, the fighting among Northern Alliance and Pashtun commanders. The mess then Indian and other countries involvement created, which ultimately gave rise to Taliban. No mention of that period ever.
4. The writer should know that Afghanistan is a tribal society even now. They have been fighting among themselves since last many centuries. Once Americans withdraw, there will be again possibility of fighting within on ethnic grounds.
5. Kabul is only a city of Afghanistan, 80% of Afghanistan is still under Taliban control.
6. I wish an Indian could write a balanced article over Afghanistan.
7. Its a bitter reality, that very few Journalists actually go to Afghanistan. Many just write their articles based on their perception. Reality over there is very bitter and not music to anyone ears including Pakistan.
8. (Pardon to Afghans here)
Afghans are ungrateful. From Ahmad Shah Abdali and before and after, all invasions of subcontinent were purely for the purpose of loot and plunder. In Pakistan, its been 35 years now, we are hosting 3 millions of them. Every organized crime in Pakistan has its lead to an Afghan. Extortion, kidnapping for ransom, land grabbing, drug and weapon smuggling, car theft you name it. Indians may be feeling joy if they have spent few billion dollers there. Look at Pakistan, we are loosing billion dollers may be every month just in the head of smuggling through Afghan trade.
Any how lets keep our finger cross. Good luck with your warm romance.
