Fans across the border excitedly tweeted their love for the drama.

Rarely does Hamza Ali Abbasi manage to steal hearts, but his drama Pyaare Afzal has garnered much love from audiences across the border with his inimitable performance.

@iamhamzaabbasi outstanding drama #pyaareafzal and incredible performance by you! Love n respect from India!

The Pakistani drama — a huge hit in Pakistan — is currently being aired on Indian TV channel Zindagi TV. India seems to be smitten by Afzal played by Hamza, as they pour their love for him on Twitter.

Written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and directed by Nadeem Baig — the story revolves around a carefree man Afzal Subhanallah who is the only son of Maulvi Subhanallah.

He falls in love with Farah (Ayeza Khan), a rich mill owner’s daughter, and asks for her hand in marriage. Considering his carefree attitude, the parents refused and a heartbroken Afzal leaves Hyderabad and moves to Karachi. Soon, he becomes caught up with the wrong people and becomes an infamous gangster working for the government.

Due to its immense popularity, the last episode of the romantic drama was screened in various cinemas across the country and became the first TV serial to hit the big screen.

First it was Mahira and Fawad’s hit romantic drama Humsafar, then Fawad Khan’s Daastan (renamed Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam) and now Hamza Ali Abbasi’s Pyaare Afzal. India is loving every show that Pakistanis are producing and it doesn’t seem to be because of the actors per say, the scripts have fans wanting more.

The script, dialogue delivery, background score and overall finesse of the drama won Indian over and they couldn’t stop gushing about it

Here are some of the reactions:

Today's episode #PyaareAfzal brought tears. Afzal finally meets his mother and sister. Can't wait when he meets his farher.

This was the last good drama we had, I wonder what zindagi channel will show after this. Dramas have become so mediocre now.

I don't watch dramas much but now a days my mum and sister watches Mol and Muqadas quite addictively, wonder if they're any good?

OST of Mol is pretty damn good too.

I'm watching Mol but faysal and naveen are wasting their talent honestly. Faisal does do different things but Naveen is doing roles that Sajal Ali does. Its a decent drama but not something I would excitedly recommend to someone.

So is Muqadas's.

Earlier dramas of Pakistan industry used to be Classic, mostly on PTV , that era is gone unfortunately .

I used to glue myself on the TV screen in my childhood when dramas like Dhoowan, Alpha Bravo Charlie, Dhoop Kinare, Tanhaiyan,Andhera Ujala etc. used to get air .

Humsafar,Khuda Aur Muhabbat, Shehre Zaat, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan are recent good ones.

Not just Pyaray Afzal... they were in LOVE with "hamsafar" and other dramas aswell. the truth is that India can not produce such quality dramas without displaying glamour. These dramas have a simple and original story line. which is unique for their audience.

Never seen a Pakistani drama. Would love to see it....

I remember Umer Sharif comedy cuts though.... would be added to VHS tapes. My cousins would love 'em.

These are timeless :) even those dramas which zulgifaq and tasmina sheikh made in scotland were just amazing! Kollege jeans, sub set hai, yeh cheez!! Miss those days.

Bhai truth ki baat mat karo.....
Indian TV also has produced great drama's.
The series from Pak is good ...concentrate on that....
Fizul ki baatein mat karo....

Diyaredil aint that bad

I was watching it for Skardu, Obi and Abid Ali, but its so slow :/ i gave up on it after obis father died. Hum tv needs to up their game, they are literally dishing out crap to the audiences.
