Its senseless statement from Deepak....... I think he has weak nerves, he gave such kind of non-sence statements against Pak few months ago. I feel he is scared.

India did put up not one but two military shows by moving troops and defense assets against Pakistan. But only to be killed by their own explosives, did not have ability or gusts to face Pakistan. Now india wants to take on Pakistan and China?? You got to feel pity for these indians that they have to live with constant deception of their govt and media. The Indian army for sometime now has been in news for all the wrong reasons and the media has gone ballistic after them...
Reasons
1.Kargil
2.Operation Parakram
3.Infiltration and COIN operations not completely successful
4. Number of scams emerging on a daily basis
5.Recent reports of chinese incursions and the pathetic response of army
6. their snub to using Indian made tanks and other weapons

If u hvn't realized, tons of articles have been written on these issues mainly on internet and the armies lackluster response has made the army chief to come out in the open to reassure the people that the army is preparing for the worst case scenario....

The foreign office is pathetic to say the least and many a times its in conflict with the views of the armed forces which they never acknowledge...

Army's military doctrine of five years is undergoing a makeover to include scenarios such as a two-front simultaneous war with both China and Pakistan.

The new doctrine, which is reviewed every five years at the Army's Shimla-based Training Command, is also expected to spell out tactics and means to fight asymmetric, fourth-generation warfare waged by both state and non-state actors such as terror attacks and proxy wars.


That apart, it would also look at ways to enhance the strategic reach of the Army and joint operations with the Navy and the Air Force.

For the purpose, the Army held a day-long closed door seminar in the Capital this week in which think-tanks and strategic experts brainstormed on the issues concerning the armed forces in general and the Army in particular, Army officers said today.

The Training Command has already begun reworking on the doctrine to include the new developments in the different areas of warfare and to reflect on the new threat perceptions and security challenges, officers said.
"The review is going on, but the document is not yet finalised. The review is mandated every five years," officers said.

Apart from analysing military strategies and doctrines of China and Pakistan, the Army is also picking out lessons relevant for India from US' and NATO's Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan launched in 2001 and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, they added.
