Cutting ties with China would make India only even more dependent on foreign countries ... think about how many Indian start ups are backed by Chinese dollars. Who is going to fill in that investment if China pulls out? Unlike China where everyone wanted to invest in it back in the 1980s and 90s, no foreign firms want to invest in India at all. Whatever manufacturing and FDI that has not gone towards China in recent years has been gobbled up by Vietnam or the Philippines, not India. The gap between India and China (and honestly other countries in the world) will only increase every year, not decrease.

India is an artificial construct. Not a natural country. Reform and revolution will not solve its problems. It need to split up like Yugoslavia into parts that existed before the British forged it.

Honestly as much as I hate to admit it India needs to get rid of its democracy. Its government is the reason why it cannot succeed ... when you think about the successes of democracy in the world, you think about the US and Europe, never India. India needs very centralized rule with a strong authority figure who uses their power to harshly implement reforms. Even Modi, however powerful he is within the BJP, cannot manage to push many initiatives through because of the bureaucracy. India itself embodies the failure of democracy.

India is basically a less successful version of Brazil imo. Both countries have too much diversity and interests ...

All we need is a good leadership. Just take a look at the period of economic liberalization period of the 90's. Otherwise all these boycott, ban drama would be just eye wash and no result. The effect of economic growth was visible everywhere. New jobs, roads, FDIs all came in such a quick span of 20 years. But UPA II's last few years and this BJP government has been a disaster.

Just saw a meme where MMS is telling NM, "Beta, muh chalana aur desh chalana eik baat nhi". I could not agree more.
