India has potential to become world's No. 1 economy in 30 years: Goyal

What potential does India have exactly? 1.4 billion mostly uneducated slum/village dwelling people in a country with massive resource scarcity and pollution does not sound like "immense potential" by any means. Even if India got to work today, it could never hope to get even close to China or the US ... it would be nothing short of a miracle if it got to the state of Brazil today in 40 years. AFAIK, sub Saharan countries like Nigeria have much greater potential.

India's massive population represents a huge market and even though it suffers from deep socio economic inequality, its elite classes still represent a massive population and has/will churn out countless deeply talented people. Only a fool would underestimate India.

.
Issue is not the elites. It's the do nothings. That includes a large section of the land owning middle class whose life style is dependent on the exploitation of the underclass.

These protesting farmers are part of the prob. They rely on a system that guarantees them an income. They use low income laborers to do the real work and have the luxury of doing nothing for most of the year. Thats why there are so many farmers in Delhi. They really do no work for most of the year.

Better watch your tongue. Some people here get very butt hurt and would tried to get you banned or your posts deleted if you state the unvarnished facts.

I had some close friends who went to India and they said that the elites there are really lazy. Many just depend on servants to do everything and can't be bothered just to get a glass of water themselves.

That's the biggest difference between China and India. People in China are extremely hardworking, impatient and always in a rush to do something.

No, no guys - Its true.

Its all true..., after they've sold their Tejas to the US Navy.

No wait...:omghaha:

Everyone from the upper middle class and up has a servant. Rich farmers are the worst of the bunch. Farmers are guaranteed income. No need to work hard just rely on the underclass to do the hardwork.

Same system in Pakistan. It's a culture of dependency and laziness that's seeped into every facet of society. Farmers are dependent on rich government schemes. Workers don't work hard. Professionals are always late to the office and early home. The government is dependent on endless foreign aid and loans.

india has less potential than africa due to overpopulation on depleted land and resources

Thanks to China virus we will achieve this in 25 years
How will this be possible since India will not even be a country 25 years later?

By the way, your username is very befitting of yourself :partay:

TNN | Dec 16, 2020, 06:02 IST

Kolkata: India has the potential to become number one economy in the world in the next 25-30 years, said Union commerce and industries minister Piyush Goyal.

Goyal was interacting with the members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) through a webinar at the latter’s annual general meeting (AGM). He feels that India will be $10 trillion economy in the next 7-8 years. He urged industrialists to come forward to make India the factory of the world. “We have already become pharmacy of the world. Now, we can be factory to the world,” he added.

According to the minister, Atmanirbhar Bharat is the module to make not only India self-sufficient but also to make India manufacturing hub of the world. A lot of multinational companies have already announced base shift base from China following the pandemic.

“The whole world wants a robust alternative supply chain and we should grab the opportunity,” he added.

Goyal also hailed the role played by industrialists during pandemic by saying that all the items related to Covid 19 — from PPE to ventilators — are being manufactured here.

The webinar was attended by ICC president Mayank Jalan, RP-Sanjiv Goenka group chairman Sanjiv Goenka along with others.

Oh how I miss this type of thread ! I was beginning to think that Indians politicians are now grounded with complete control of their faculty !

India is in BAD CONDITION in 1970's still it amputated one country half.

India is in WORST condition in 1980's still it crushed all REBELS.

From 2010 RISE OF HINDUTVA is started so as economic boom, it is just matter of time.
India &China were Number 1&2 SUPER POWERS BEFORE 18TH century and they will ONCE AGAIN BECOME SUPER POWERS. :victory:

Yes population is a plus, but every Indian graduating from an IIT with a stem degree leaves for United States. This is a brain drain of immense proportion, it is helping the United States leaving India behind.

Fear not, the anti-jihad laws will take India all the way to the end zone cementing India's name in the history books !

Oh man. We have been hearing this for the last decade but it truly seems like the train has left India and once we found out the news that Bengaladesh has better GDP then India recently it was basically the end of this farce.

The fake reports have been officially buried and these hyperbolic tabloids even stopped spamming India's imaginery future economy
