So neither technically nor non-technically he surrendered. If he wanted his life to be spared he could have surrendered and turned approver like some others but he didn't

See That is what exactly i was mentioning...... Death sentence is not like a life in prison where one can take a risk of making a mistake ( i mean judiciary ), so that is why we should give him every possible way to defend himself.......

This is a small step in nowhere, if you realize the purpose to be honest. Sometimes its necessary to butcher a scum, sometimes it is tactically important and necessary to keep some of them alive. Intel agencies are going to have nightmares in future if you believe the words of B Raman at least.

Kind of weird that Yakub Memon and his lawyers never used that supposed assurance during the trial. Granted the lawyers would have been trying to portray him as innocent but it could have atleast been brought up during sentencing. Once the Supreme Court pronounced its verdict, it was always going to be difficult for any government, this or any other. If you allow this man a Presidential pardon, with the type of crime committed, who on earth are you going to execute ?

There have been problems with all the commuting that the SC has been doing on a very non-transparent basis and for frivolous reasons of delay and that does cause the whole system to look skewed considering that the previous execution was also of a Muslim. Had a whole bunch of people, mainly Hindus, been executed in the last few months, there would be almost no comment about this one.

He could not turn approver, he was held as a conspirator (you allow for people to turn approvers so that you can get at the conspirator/s). No one would have allowed him to get off.

Justice is served at last. Yakub hanging forced so called eminent secular/liberal bleeding hearts to show their true face. They tried their best to find some loophole to save a Muslim. That dude who pulled out Nirbhaya's guts out in delhi rape case was also a muslim and they played the "he is a minor" loophole quite well.
