India Hands Over US$20 Million Flood Aid To Pakistan

NEW DELHI, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- India has given US$20 million of aid to Pakistan for the relief of flood victims, China's Xinhua news agency reported official sources as saying here Saturday.

The cheque of US$20 million was handed over to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon by India's permanent representative to the United Nations, Hardeep Singh Puri, in New York on Friday, the sources said.

Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Abdullah Hussain Haroon, was present during India's contribution towards the " Pakistan Emergency Response Plan," the sources said.

This is in addition to the US$5 million that India had earlier given to the World Food Programme for its relief efforts in Pakistan.

In all modesty, I don't get it! It's not like this gonna help making Pakistan to change her policy or even better the relation, why we, the taxpayers of India need to do our Pakistani peers job? :s We have problems of our own, $20 million could have saved lot of farmers from committing suicide.
