I think BD will not buy equipment from India as what India can offer is not suitable for BD. Hopefully this 500 million dollars will be spent buying SU-30SMs from Russia.

Sad, but being a senior member I expected a reply after you have actually read the article. Don't just jump into your own conclusions, the credit of 4.5 Billion is for development activities not for buying arms.

"India and Bangladesh signed a slew of agreements on Saturday, including a $4.5 billion concessionary line of credit from India for development projects in Bangladesh."

And regarding the 500 Million USD, it is specifically for buying arms from India, not from anyone else. Bangladesh have the choice to either accept or let it go.

"Officials from the two sides signed 22 agreements, including a framework deal for defense cooperation over the next five years and an additional $500 million for Bangladesh to buy military equipment from India."

500 million US dollars is enough for 8 SU-30SMs.
We will have to wait and see if India allows this.

BD won't be under influence of India.... neither it would be under any other country....

with China, BD has strategic partnership, which means that relationships with China is not feeble.... its strong, even if we chose to talk about it or not.... no need to beat the drum about it....

on the other hand, for India, beating drum is everything.... that so-called "influence" is artificial....
the mistake India has already made by keeping the water issue hanging would make them suffer....

Why India insist on signing some non-essential fake defence pact with BD as its army doesn't want from the first beginning.

Before BD and Pakistan break hands, you guys both are China friends! After 1971, we keep that sincere relationship on on bilateral ties.China is always a bridge and commonal good memory of BD and Pakistan. Although India helped Bd get independent in 1971, you have to see their intention is malign. All they got to do is break Pakistann apart and BD independence is the consequence. I have to admit Pakistan had some cruel put down on BD people before your independence, you guys maybe can forgive them And let it go as both of you are sons and daughters of Allah! let's move forward. BD is not gonna be a part of Pakistan once again, neither it will be the puppet of India. We have to accept the ground reality, especially Barahtis.
