Fishermen associations and political parties have condemned the Indian government for "gifting" an off-shore patrol vessel to Sri Lanka recently.

They expressed concern that the vessel will be used against the Tamil Nadu fishermen venturing into Lankan waters for fishing in Palk Strait.

Petty Politics. They should rather try to give an opportunity to President Srisena in his promises.

There needs to be bettercoordination between the two navies and coast guard to solve issue of over fishing and other border disputes

A thought, may be Tamil Nadu fishermen should fish in their own waters instead!

Why dont you just Keep off if you have no Idea what the real issue is.

Nah i'll stick around, considering your tamil nadu fishermen also illegally fish in our waters...if your government can't or won't stop them from stealing fish from sri lankan waters, then the sri lankans have every right to take what ever action they wish....:sniper:

Ah, wasn't it this mr.Vaiko who was found to have visited the LTTE caves as per the videos obtained in the house where the gang that killed Rajiv Gandhi was staying? And Ramdoss who has declared that his life mission is to somehow make his son (who is under investigation for fraud) the Chief Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu - though they can manage may be 1% of the vote?

Sure these are the nuts to represent Tamils.

Actually they dont. Thats why I would like you to read on the History of katchatheevu before arguing. We have a contract with the Lankans to allow our fishermen to fish in those waters as a prerequisite to handing over the Island. I respect the move the Indian central govt has adopted as this issue will not solve on an eye to eye note.

Either your lying or your ill informed, the accord between ndia and sri lanka only allows indian fishermen and pilgrims to visit the Kachchativu island, the accord does not allow for indians fishing rights in sri lankan waters period.

Read the doc: www.state.gov/documents/organization/61460.pdf

1. Tamil Nadu fishermen have been illegally poaching along the coast of Sri Lanka (Sri Lankan waters) not just their tradional fishing grounds, or the Kachchativu islets.
2. Tamil Nadu fishermen have been using damaging the seabed with their fishing methods, this has resulted in over fishing along the Tamil Nadu coast and forced them to poach Sri Lankan shores.
3. Tamil Nadu are now venturing into Bangladeshi waters, poaching the rich fishing grounds that are part of Bangladeshis EEZ.

So stop with the crap...
