India gets hawk eye over Strait of Malacca

China's energy production by type. (2010)

Crude Oil 200 Million Ton = 4.5 India
Coal 3,162 Million Ton = 8 Saudi Arabia

Care of explain how is this relevant to this thread?
The discussion was about Chinas' dependence on shipping through Malacca straits for its energy needs. Just because China can domestically produce X-times some other country's domestic production, doesn't mean this dependence is reduced by anyway.
Each country has its own energy needs. India's requirements are different from that of China's. China's economy is more energy dependant than India's. Also, it depends on how efficiently the energy produced is utilized to greater productivity.

Also, its not just the energy imports, but China also depends on the Malacca straits for import of very vital raw materials for its industries and exports of its finished products to markets in Asia, Africa and Europe.

Based on the data above, Malacca weighs 5% of China's fossil energy supply.

Which data are you referring to?
Based on the data I put in Post#9, China will be importing 2/3 of its crude oil consumption by 2015 and more than 3/4 of its consumption by 2030.
I understand that majority of the fossil fuel will be in the form of coal, which is abundant in China. What I was referring to was Petroleum fuel, which cannot be replaced by Coal as fuel for many applications E.g. automotive, petrochemical industries etc.
