The much-awaited Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) launch with indigenous cryogenic stage engine will take place in Sept-Oct 2012, even as an experimental flight of its upgraded GSLV-Mark III version is also on the cards during this year.

The fuel-booster turbo pump, that failed during the first launch of GSLV with indigenous cryogenic stage in April 2010, has now been modified and a series of ground tests were on to soon enable its successor flight, Indian Space Research Organisation chairman K Radhakrishnan said.

India struck a deal with Russia to provide hydrogen-fueled rocket engines and technical know-how.

The agreement was quashed in 1992 after U.S. authorities imposed sanctions on Glavkosmos, the Russian company providing technology to India. The United States feared the transfer of missile technology from the fractured Soviet Union to developing states.

India responded by purchasing seven readymade cryogenic engines from Russia and starting the design of an indigenous upper stage from scratch.

Do you know how complex the task is? Rome was not built in a day

Cryogenic engine and Rome - Both were not assembled in a day - I agree.

Cryogenic engine and Rome - what is the connection here.

Did the Italians help in its completion.

Yes, that you are doing since 1857.

Why build Rome for decades when one can leech on others Rome.

For the simple fact such as US pressure we had no choice but to go it alone but in the long run this will pay off more.

We have many successful tests in few years. Russians refused to sell cryogenic engines because of American pressure. So, we have to develop our own.
