I think it is not possible for Russia to pressurize India anymore seeing it has already secured access to Western tech which is generally better anyways.
The concern here will be the upgrade/maintenance programs esp for Sukhois and the joint ventures like T-50.
Can India build the same levels of ties with other countries like Japan for space and Israel for military tech ?

Perhaps the Russians are also looking at a possible shift in India's stance since the beginning of the decade. They see an important partner heading Westwards. This will have been of the factors though.

.
it's about time india took a stand! this was long overdue due to lack of options!!

.
Russia should take care of these issues as fast as possible.

.
they will lose out a chunk of defence deals to west, these low grade second hand spares have cost us so many lives. the groshkov deal was as good as whitemail. you can't be arrogant while doing business, friendship ? does a friend do this to his friend? friends don't trick friends!
.

and forgot to mention, these low grade tools are sanctioned by defence ministry itself and some people from the army navy and af are involved. money making basta"'ds.

LOL

Good to hear......every single deal that india has signed with Russia results in cost over-run and delays without any penalty....

.
Russians have been holding Indians by the balls for the longest time when it came to military equipment acquisition. The sales of the cruiser-carrier Admiral Gorshkov was a prime example. The Russians lured the Indians with a supposed low price and hit them with a huge jacked up price once they were sucked too deep into the deal.

Good thing the Indians are wised up now and look for alternative.

I think this should be taken as a cue to let the private agencies FLOOD the defence manufacturing industries to come in and contribute to the arms manufacturing of the country. They lack the know-how but JVs and tie ups should spare them the the trouble of being a total novice for beginning. I am sure we have enough capable engineers and technicians who can easily grasp, understand and learn new technologies of weapons manufacturing without the need of a government deadweight called the DRDO.

This standing up should be the first step towards a tenfold increase in indigenous arms research and development by PRIVATE firms as well as some sarkari firms. It is time DRDO gives its final test before dissolving and being taken over by more capable private giants.

. . . .
this is bad for a multi-polar world...India will be forced to go to west for their defense needs..Now i really appreciate the Chinese, at least they did not fall in this trap. When will MOD wake up!!!. Btw Israel will be licking their lips now.

Show them that the customer is always GOD!!!

Try to buy F-22 from U.S. :azn:

Cooperation between Russia and India is gradually changing the rules on the world arms market. For example, now the Americans, and Europeans in tenders in addition to export of finished products have to offer export of technology. It's a big shift in consciousness.

russian don't believe in god :smokin:

Russians don't believe in God, but hopes that God believes in Russia.
