Wasting is the result of gross neglect, lack of infrastructure and supply chain management.
If I'm not mistaken, India produces enough food to feed all its population.
What it lacks is the proper storage and distribution which is probably the worst in the world. Not to add corruption and skimming off the top by those that manage the distribution process.

Incompetence has a whole new level in India. This has to change!

You cant compare a tiny city state with a country like Sri Lanka (even though Sri Lanka is tiny by most standards as a country)
Much easier to "develop" and manage a city than it is a country.

Yes but credit where credit is due.. LKY made sure post colonial fissures were kept in check, He infact took lessons out of Ceylon (read his memoirs if you get a chance) He was a benevolent dictator, While Lankan politicians went on the typical South Asian third world way.. Exploiting ethnic and religious conflict for third world political compulsions in place of nation building

I'm not saying Singapore is a perfect example to follow in development, But it's way better than the basket cases we have in South Asia

No doubt. Singapore is way better in terms of EVERYTHING! Infra, healthcare, cleanliness..name it.
But again, one cannot use the Singapore model to improve the existing conditions of a country because the problems faced by a country like SL or even India are of a whole different dynamic.
It makes sense that SL was a model for Singapore, but the vice versa seems like a poor strategy to employ for the whole country.

God, it makes my blood boil!
I mean if we were a poor (Govt) country with lack of education, resources etc. we can at least blame it on fate and the cards that were dealt to us.
But this is just incompetence and wastage of epic proportions. The solution is simple, we just have zero will to execute this.

We need a Vallabhbhai Patel type leader at the helm. One that's a semi-dictator that works within the secular framework of the constitution.

This is like Zimbabwe allying with USA and calling itself "super power duo" Pakistan is no one in the international stage. Pakistan isn't even a regional power, your military is ranked 13 in Global fire power . Nearly all of your techs are relics or Soviet era copies .

Third link is about 2050, 33 years from now, even Sri Lanka can be a super power by 2050.
