NEW DELHI: India’s proposal for visa-free movement for short term business trips within the proposed 16-nation Asia-Pacific trade and investment group has failed to find favour with Australia, Japan and China over apprehension of large-scale immigration to these countries.

Absolutely the smart thing to do. India with uncontrolled population growth and many jobless will look to go to better countries for work and better life. These countries do not need Indians flocking in and overstaying their welcome.

Quite obvious...No country would like to allow large number of immigrant to settle in their own country...USA is different ..But rest of the world is not happy when lot of immigrants to their country.

Japan has very strict policy relating to immigration.

How about your iron-brother. You do not even give visa on arrival facility to Pakistan that too in Hong Kong or Macau, where most countries get that access. It's just a protectionist policy to foreign migrants. Especially low paid jobs.

Most including India? Hongkong and Macau have their special rules and I never heard Pakistan government lobby around for such treatment. but India just get snubbed by your new best friend after trying this hard.

yeah, I can travel to HK or Macau. In Macau, I can travel freely Visa not required. In HK I get a eTA On my passport. Just walk in.

So, you see why Japanese don't give such things to India and it is just protectionism.

Honkong and Macau have their separate rules. I don't know their policies to specific countries.

You can't understand country relations by looking at these visa restrictions.

Even Chinese Passport holder cannot go to Pakistan without a prior-visa from embassy of Pakistan in China.
I'm not aware of any new policy though.

The people wasting their bandwidth simply thinking this is something negative, how many of you guys have visa free entry to Japan.

Honkong and Macau have their separate rules. I don't know their policies to specific countries.

HK and Macau are two centers, one for business other for gambling and chilly-willy stuffs.

And it's nothing policy related, it's just money. Business/gambling etc...

Chiefly because their iron brother does not give it to them either. These things are reciprocal.

The latest round of the Pak-China FTA deals with this. Min of Interior of Pak opposes it. As per usual.

In order to obtain a short term Japanese tourist visa, Indians need to prove their solvency by submitting documents like Income tax return and their bank statement of last 6 months along with other proof of sustenance while in Japan:

Humiliating exercise for Modians from their new found friend Japan.

There are more than 60 countries allow visa free entry for Indians. But it doesn't imply extent of bilateral relation.. How many Pakistanis are allowed though?
